I'd play it safe and get it from the US. If getting from the Mexican site is as rampant as it seems, future repercussions are likely.

Yeah I'd probably get it from the US if I do this at all. Better yet, I'll probably ask a family member living in US to grab a copy of the game for me to be entirely sure. Though even then the question remains that the game might be blocked due to the official cancellation in my country.

Half the reason I'm so depressed right now is I can't play multiplayer. I always wanted to play D&D, but nobody here in India plays it. I thought Inquisition would be a pleasant alternative. Just my luck....

Yeah that's an issue for sure. I don't care as much about MP as SP, but I was still somewhat excited to try it out in a Dragon Age setting. It could have been loads of fun. Oh well. :(

Funny.  Not.  When someone tells you that the law in your country sucks (I personally think that the 2nd Amendment should slide into history) so many people say "Get lost, don't tell us what to do..." but now people are saying that India is wrong.  Maybe Indians should sort out their system and if enough Indians want equal rights then they can vote for someone that will give it to them.

Why? - Because you don't like guns?...If you are that against it, why not pack your stuff and move to a country (like England) that regulates weapons harshly? (you don't even have to learn a new language)

I personally would love to have the population in my country (Germany!) armed - why?

Because forming a dictatorship is quite hard, if more than half of your population is armed :)

Sorry for off-topic, but something like that makes me angry (living in a country that has you jump through a lot of legal hoops in order to be allowed ot own a weapon, even if you need one for say hunting or other gun-sports...you need a certified weapons safe and another for your ammunition for example which makes that hobby quite expensive, particularly if you don't just shoot in one category, but many and need one of the big weapon safes...)

greetings LAX

ps: Note: Can't the Indian players creat an extra account for DA (creat it while using VPN...should count as a non-indian account then, should it not?)

One of my friend is getting a copy from US. He is going to try activating it using VPN and see. I will update as soon as i get any info. You can do one thing, ask your friend/family member in US to buy the game, open it and send you the key. And activating it here using VPN.

That's an awful shame for Indian fans of the series. My sympathies to them and to LGBT players in India most of all. Poor decision by the government there. It's always been strange to me how people can be so threatened by something that is not nor should be threatening to anyone who is rational.

That wouldn't happen. It all depends on where the game is purchased.

So theoretically the games will stay in the library, even after switching off the VPN ?

Yes. Removing games would invite lawsuits that could invalidate their ToS. They won't risk that.

I did.  And I'm happy here.  I'm not a hypocrite!

If that's the case, shouldn't buying from 3rd party online sources work too?

So you're saying once activated I can login to Origin from India without VPN and not risk deactivation? I mean I'll have to login to Origin again sometime for future games or whatever, so I can't remain offline on Origin indefinitely once I activate it.

Sure.

You mean that if I buy from website like G2A or something, I can play in India? Even multiplayer? Is it really that simple? What's the point of blocking the game on Origin then?

You'll need to use a VPN to activate the game from where it was originally purchased. After that it should be okay.

If EA doesn't sell the game in India, they can't violate any law. As far as I know, India is still a democracy and doesn't censor the internet excessively. Nobody will bring this to court.

Edit: OMG, just read that the new government wants to block access to porn sites. Prepare for riots.

I've been talking to a G2A support person, and he says:

"And if there isn't any restrictions to your Country on the product page you should be able to activate it "

I guess that means it won't work.

Then use a VPN to activate it. Trust me, we Germans have experience with that.

He checked the game, and said:

"It is global and has no notes on which countries it won't work so everything should be ok if you buy that product."

I would still use a proxy to register and activate the game. Just to be save.

Eh, many a times I needed to go through hoops to purchase games while I was working in China.

Bottom line is, once you've activated the game from an unblocked country you don't need to worry about it being removed. Otherwise people traveling from the US to India would be pretty upset. Besides, EA probably isn't that happy to lose a source of revenue in India with Inquisition. They're not going to do anything beyond abiding to local purchasing laws. ;)

I'll try to ask to him and keep us updated if it works.

So did multiplayer if any worked in such games while you accessed them from China? Or are we out of luck on that? I'll be happy to just get the single player stuff, but I was kinda looking forward to the MP.
