For those who've played the early access trial, can anyone give their feedback on what they think of the inquisitor voices in the game. How do they compare to the voices in say DA2 or the ME games?  Which voice for each gender would you choose?

So far on the male side the american voice just does not fit the male human I worked up so I went with the British voice I guess that is the accent of the other one. I did not want to spend much time in customization with only 6 hours so did not try out the women voices. The voice acting however is done really well even compared to the games listed in my opinion if not better.

I may be the minority but the americanized voice is never going to fit in, in a game like DAI to me, even with me being from the US.

The american voice doesn't fit the game at all imho.. maybe a dwarf but thats about it.. in general i'm not content with the tone of the voice, he sounds quite dim and sarcastic at all times, not really capturing emotions properly.

They should off gone with some welsh and irish accents as well.

Well different strokes for different folks cause from the streams the American male voice is absolutely PERFECT for my sarcastic qunari and will be the one I use for my first play through.

I'll keep it in mind, that if I ever do a male playthrough the American voice fits perfectly for a sarcastic qunari.

I was pretty surprised when I ended up liking the american voice on an elf, so much that I might even choose that voice for my first play as an elven mage. He doesn't sound dalish at all but I can just rp that he was originally from an alienage and ran away to join the dalish, like Pol.

I keep thinking the male American voice is Michael Dorn (even though we know it's not).

It'd be okay if he sounds sarcastic at the right moment. But if people feel like he sounds sarcastic all around regardless of dialogue choice and situation, then that's a problem.

Posted about this before, doing so again. I'll just make the post I made last time.

American for tougher races and British for weaker ones. Specifically, Qunari and dwarf get American and human and elf gets British. Bioware has said that those are the default voices for the respective races, and I see no reason to deviate from that. After all, the American voices in DAI sound a little too tough to fit anything but a stocky dwarf or big Qunari, and the Brit voice sounds way too soft and posh for a Qunari or dwarf. I like the voice to fit the appearance, and human/elven appearances in DAI just don't fit the tougher American voice to me. The American voice just flat-out suits a dwarf or Qunari more in my opinion.

I really didn't pay any attention to the male voices.

love the female British voice. It fits an elf or human perfectly, and it just sounds really expressive and well done. I tinkered with the American voice a bit, just to see it, and I think it's good too - probably preferred for a dwarf; either way for a qunari - so a good second option, but it's a little brash for me. A nice difference, though - you can see how the different voices could change your sense of the Inquisitor.

Well, fair enough; my own sarcastic Tal-Vashoth will be thoroughly British to the point of having a secret tea addiction.

Though in all honesty, I don't really like the American male voice; it's too lacking in emotion I think. It was a voice made specifically with a Qunari in mind imo.

I really don't like the American female voice, but then again it is the one I have heard least. The British female sounds spot on, but may not suit Dwarfs or Qunari. Both of the males are a bit lacking in comparison, but again I can judge this better when I have the game.

The male voice makes the Inquisitor sound so charming. I saw a qunari playthrough that was so great

I did not play the males, so I cannot comment on their voices.

The female however, no problem so far. I found the voice to match my human female character quite well. As with the second voice option I feel its more of a Q voice then a elf, but that is just me.

Also I believe the Elf/Q voice is the same used in Skyrim. She was that lady who was in that former group to the Emperor, went into hiding and is helping you. Gawd my memory sucks at this time of day. Going to go off and look into that.

Haven't played the game, mainly watched videos, but I'm liking how all of them sound. Sumalee Montano is probably my favorite of them all, funny thing after listening to Jon Curry's performance he sounds kinda like Michael Dorn.

I've only had time to try out the female voices so far with an elf and a human.

Given that I made my elf look somewhat tough (short hair, mostly shaved) and imagined her backstory as being rather tough too, I much prefered the American voice for her.

For the human mage, the British voice was perfect.

In the end, I matched the voice more to the personalities that I envisioned more than race.

Evidently, I have not progressed through the plot far enough during the 6-hour trial to comment on the acting itself, but so far so good on both.

Are you referring to Delphine, the head of the Blades? If so, I'm afraid that was Joan Allen (http://www.imdb.com/.../?ref_=tt_cl_t3), who doesn't seem to have a role in DA:I at all.

The American female voice is supposedly the "default" for dwarves and qunari -- but see that early video in which the devs themselves used the British voice for a lady qunari. Anyhow, the VA is Sumalee Montano (http://www.imdb.com/...9/?ref_=nv_sr_1), who has been in a long list of things, including Diablo III and the Omega DLC for Mass Effect 3.

Yes! Another player who is rolling british Qunari *gives internet high five* my Qunari was raised in fereldan and joined the merc band at a later date being a mage and all that and he is a bookworm who is finding it difficult to believer someone like him a the "chosen" one if that is what he really is.

I'd have liked to see a Glaswegian, Mancunian, or Sheffield accent, but it's a pipe dream. BW will always go with the American and Southern English. Just a safer bet.

If you mean who I think you mean, that was Joan Allen...as she's a reasonably famous movie star, I think if she was in the game, we would know by now.

Yes! That is who I speak of, thank you for the information. And WoW! They sound exactly alike. Then again there are quite a few people who can sound similar.

Thanks again! :D

Serious props towards Sumalee.

So I have a bit of a quandry. I only want to play as qunari and dwarves, but I don't want them all to sound the same. I'm only planning one female, so it's easy to pick the American voice for her.

But I want to do at least two males to start: a qunari and a dwarf. Is there anything in their backgrounds that would have it make more sense for one of them to have the British accent? I'm thinking that since the qunari inquisitor is from Ferelden, maybe they would have that accent? Although I guess that makes sense for the dwarf too. Do we meet either of their families?
