I just have to say that the bard songs in Inquisition are incredible. I'll most likely just be standing around in the tavern soaking up all those melodic melodies. In Origins, Leliana's "song" was hands down my fav, but with all these new ones from "random tavern chick" she blows Leliana out the water, especially since one of the songs she does has the same instrumental as Leliana's. I'd advise if you care for the ost, and don't mind the mos trivial of spoilers, to give em a listen :3

They're ...nice, I guess.  I like them tentatively.  Not much to distinguish them apart though.

 

All 4 songs sound too similar to me and in the first two the voice of the performer seems 'strained'.  Have to say I am much more a fan of Leliana's song in Origins.

 

But if this plays when my inquisitor is running around Skyhold, it will be more pleasant listening to actual bardic music giving an air of reality to the inn than just instrumental soundtrack.

There are actually 21 of them in the game, and each time you stand in the tavern and listen to a new song you get a pop-up bar that slowly fills up: 5/21 etc. I guess when you hear them all you get an achievement? Anyway, I spent the last 10 minutes of my trial just standing in the tavern and listening, these songs are gorgeous!

Leliana does end up singing and the tweet about Cullen singing is true as well. Though its very likely not what your expecting but its still a very nice scene.

 

I really like the first song, "Rise", the best. I like the pacing of the song and that it seems like an inspirational song meant for the Inquisition. I imagine it has a very personal meaning for the inquisitional soldiers.

 

Someone needs to put up the lyrics for these bard songs.

That's my favorite too. I've been calling it "Empress of Fire" but don't know the proper name, sorry! It was the 1st song the bard sang when I entered the tavern in Haven.

 

EDIT: Also, if you have subs turned on, you will be able to see all the lyrics as she sings.

I actually had this imagine in my mind of us walking to find her in the rookery singing quietly to the birds. And then that would open up to a conversation about how little she's been able to sing since the Breach, and that she misses the music in her life, and then you'd ask if she'd sing for you, and she'd laugh and say perhaps another time, and if you get higher approval she does later on. Plus requisite: "It's nice to laugh. Forget singing...I'd like to just laugh again."

I'm a little worried about repetitiveness, but I can tune music out for a while in options if it annoys me.  At least, I think there will be a setting for ambient music volume.
