[Tevinter Rose]

I thought I'd make a post to talk about spoilery things I came across while playing the 6 hour trial of DAI as an Elven Inquisitor. If anyone else played the trial feel free to post your observations here as well

 

General reaction to my Elven Inquisitor:

I played as a female elven mage. As the story progresses, after you close the first huge rift you go back to camp and people's reactions to an elven inquisitor are interesting. Mostly they are in awe and view the you with reverence and as a holy figure who may be the key to saving them. Some people won't even look you in the eye out of respect. On the other hand I still got a bit of casual racism thrown at me by the inquisitions requisition officer, she called me a knife ear and automatically assumed I was a servant. She tripped over herself when she realized I was the Herald. In general in the beginning the reactions are mixed I would say.

 

Being an Apostate Inquisitor:

Being an apostate seemed to only be a big deal to Chantry members, people in the Inquisition seemed to understand how important the inquisitor is to closing the breach so for the most part no one said anything negative directly about me being a mage at that point but it might come up later in the story.

 

The title Herald of Andraste and how the Chantry sees you:

About the title, it's thrust on you from the beginning, you do have many dialogue options to reject it, embrace it, or express confusion about it when talking with other people. But even so, people treat you like a holy figure regardless. Cassandra disapproved every time I questioned the title.

 

A lot of Chantry leadership was killed in the blast, the organization is completely disorganized with no clear goal how to deal with the Breach.

Many Chantry clerics actively hate the inquisitor and want them to be detained and put on trial to eventually be killed, they blame the inquisitor for the blast and reject the Inquisition from the get go but there are some reasonable clerics left that you can reach out too.

 

Solas' opinion on Elves:

He dislikes the Dalish, thinks they are misguided, only care about themselves, and don't have any clue about the ancient elves, or their own traditions. He considers the Lavellan Clan to be exceptional because they actually care about what happens to humans. Any pro dalish thing I would pick to say made him slightly disapprove. He pitied City elves, He says they hang onto what few traditions they can in order to differentiate themselves from humans and keep themselves together, like other marginalized populations.

 

Solas' romance dialogue with an elven mage:

Solas will comment on the inquisitor being an apostate and how he's an apostate and working with Cassandra but he doesn't want to push his luck and he thinks they might turn on him if they deem him unnecessary at some point. You can comfort him and tell him you'll protect him. He's got quite a bit of flirty dialogue about being mutual apostates. 

 

Past elven companions in DA2:

This part is wholly dependent on the world state you import to the keep, Merrill and Fenris are alive and well in mine so I asked Varric and Solas what happened to them. Merrill is doing well taking care of elves in the kirkwall alienage that have been badly affected by the Mage/Templar war. Fenris is hunting down Tevinter slavers that are taking advantage of the situation. It seems like the mage/templar war is definitely negatively affecting elves because they keep getting caught in the middle.

I'm surprised that Cassandra gives disapproval for questioning the 'Herald' title. I fully expect to get a lot of disapproval from Solas; my elven Inquisitor Revas and him will have completely contrary views on the Dalish. It's a pity; I was hoping that we would get along. At this point, I don't think I'm going to get along with anyone in my initial run.

I think that she really won't care.  I've seen the video of some convos with her, and it seems like she doesn't really put much stock in religion in general.  I suppose that as long as you don't push being Dalish in her face, she won't say anything about it.

 

Really, she seems to be more about moving forward rather than sticking to traditions, so it's understandable that she doesn't really care about religion, since it's mostly about tradition.
