I'm doing a sword and shield warrior Hawke and my weapon and shield are both improve on level up (from the barbarian pack), however now all of a sudden it seems that all enemies are resisting my hits (getting that shield with the X near their name) I've tried changing gear but it's the same issue. Any ideas? :/

Does your weapon do physical damage, or some other kind (like nature/spirit/fire etc?)?. Enemies can be immune to certain types of damage, especially if you play on Nightmare.

The weapon I use deals spirit damage so I thought that may be the case, but I swapped to a sword that deals physical damage and it's the same case. ![]()

Hate double posting but this issue is really pissing me off, I seriously can't find a solution anywhere on the Internet and any info regarding this issue is scarce. Found a post saying that if I use a console command that resets my character's level fixes it but this reverts my character's state to the beginning of the game, all my items go away and I only keep my money. :/

1. Can other team members damage the enemies?
2. Does this issue happen only when fighting a particular enemy, or every enemy? If a particular enemy, what's this enemy's name?

Yeah my team members are fine and it's literally every single enemy I've come across. It wasn't like this from the start of course but I can't pinpoint when it started happening. It's not crippling me but I feel useless and it's just my companions doing most of the work.

iirc the "x" icon will show if any damage is resisted from any source. That means, somebody could be doing a little extra fire or nature damage on each hit and it'll show up there and you're going to see it a lot if you're playing on nightmare. Most enemies are completely immune to one type of element after all.
Unfortunately, DA2 introduced all these immunities but simultaneously removed the weapon swap function of DA:O, so you'll need to manually change your weapons frequently if you want to make use of elemental weaknesses and get around immunities.

I actually discovered the issue, it has to do with my being a Templar (class), I used Maker's Sigh to respec and didn't put a point in Templar and the issue was gone. I appreciate the help but I've seen and read enough to know that this isn't normal resistance from enemies (I play on normal) since they seemingly resist every single source of damage from me except my abilities.
