8.8 is great. 88% at metacritic too. Many amazing rpgs and high selling games score similar.
Most triple AAA titles need to be at least 90. I read a bunch of comments where they said below 90 is average or that the game seems to have low scores. A lot of people read IGN, so I was hoping the score was at least 90.

From the review, it seems like the score is based mostly on what the reviewer calls a weak main plot. And it does seem a bit low, given that most of the review is raving about how great it is.
Skyrim sold the vast, vast majority of its units on console. A conservative number puts it at 70%. There could have been billions of mods on Skyrim and still only max 1/3rd of the audience will get it.
You don't need to rant about mods being good - they obviously are good. But they're not the reason for Skyrim being successful.
While I agree with your basic premise (I disagree with the notion that Skyrim sold well because of mods...because most people I know who have played Skyrim, even on PC, don't give a fig about mods....mods are a very niche interest group, not a big seller), don't the numbers exclude digital (thus almost all PC) sales?
Are digital sales being reported yet? If not, DA:I will look lower than it really is due to PC and console digital. I've gone digital for all the games I really like or think I'll keep this generation, for instance.
Far Cry 4 is getting great reviews as well so that will have an impact on DragonAge sales.
It looks like FC4 will indeed be a good game (not a disappointment like Unity, which I've still enjoyed a little but which has lots of brokenness and microtransaction evil and so forth), I think, and will certainly out-sell DA:I. I don't think it will massively hurt sales though. (I bought both games, but won't touch FC4 for awhile, except for maybe the co-op, which is why I bought it - to play with friends.)
I predict numbers will be higher, and sales faster, than the previous installments. But nothing mind-bending.

I've never heard of this before nor do I know anyone else who uses this.
Maybe its just a internet forum thing...but even then I don't see many people bashing a solid 88% on any site I visit.

TNG's recent HD remastering has afforded the release of an exceptional number of special features. The blooper reels are divine.
It would be an anamign number considering the franchise low sales in the past compared to ME. So far it's selling a lot mor than DA: II, that's a fact.
Origin's is Bioware's best selling game in history. DAII brought those numbers down, but the franchise definitely has the potential to outpace Mass Effect's sales.
To me, they have raised the bar. Raised the bar in terms of story telling, in video game making, in RPG depth and clarity. They should be lauded with money.

That's wrong. Again, ME2 and ME3 have outsold it over the same period. You have to factor out how much longer it was released.
I have been playing bioware games, since it was SSI, pool of radiance, dragonlance and even storm across Europe.. I look at it like this, these kind of games have survived since well the beginning and they will not be leaving until my generation dies..
I am pretty sure they will sell enough games, I am going to be introducing my wife to this game on Tuesday, I am letting her play first so if the game is good they will get another fan aka $$ supporter because She was addicted to skyrim for months til she beat all dlc's and ran outta side quests.. As a matter a fact she is more of a gamer then me nowadays I am a mad scientist at work and have to find ways to save people and fix machines most of the time..
So as long as this game sticks to its origins it will be fine. I see them making plenty of profit and I know ea is in bed with them so I am sure we will see plenty of dlc's to milk the $$..
The worst thing that can happen is bad bugs or game breaking fps things like with that new assassins creed game...
Depends on how many pre-orders it had I would say.
If I buy it, it'll be around Christmas after I've gotten some opinions on the game. I figure there are a lot of people in the same boat, who passed on pre-ordering or day one buying to get some reviews, or get it on sale. I figure a lot of people are planning on buying, it's just a matter on when, I haven't made up my mind yet.

I have a lot of reasons why I don't care what the reviewers who haven't finished it have to say.
That's why I'm lettin' the rest of y'all play it first. If it passes the "BSN rage" test, I will happily buy it at full price, instead of waiting for it to come down, or getting a used copy.

ME2 was released, what, 1 year later? And hasn't got to its numbers yet if I recall correctly, despite the release of ME3 which probably helped out its sales a bit in the long term. ME3 I haven't seen its numbers, however. And perhaps Origins will get a slight boost fom Inquisition if people want to get into the series after playing it.
One thing I'm sure, Inquisition definitely has the potential to outsell other Bioware games to date.

Where are you guys getting your sales numbers from? I really hope it isn't vgchartz.
Yeah well something tells me that once a game series gets very popular it starts becoming worse and worse.
