If only a priest were in game somewhere. Always giving her aid to the Inquisition lifting their spirits when they are down. Trying to help everyone keep their faith. Leading us all in rousing song. Hey, I actually think there is one of those. but wait..... that's a logical choice. We can't have that.
The New Divine *HEAVY spoilers!*

*Entitler draws name from hat*
"Her Holiness, Divine Hortense X."
*Vivenne's epic 'Nooo!' is heard as far away as Kirkwall*
compared to some of the actual pope names? that isn't that bad. There actually were popes named: Hilarius, Simplicius, and Hyginus. ![]()

Just finished the last court and if we take some of the lore we get out of that as canon. It's more interesting to me that when you discover Justinia's true name Marjolaine is mentioned, something like you should thank Majorlaine or the secret comes courtesy of her.
Leliana's so connected, somehow becoming the left(?) hand of the divine in the time between DA:O and DA:II, as well as her mentor knowing(?) Justinia's identity before she ascended.

Yep....I actually want to put Mother Gisele as the Divine...
But it will be fun watching Vivienne being the new Divine...Her election will usher in the Fashion Age...

We already knew Justinia's real name. We've known that since Leliana's Song. The real news is how Justinia

What I'm also wondering thinking about it is if you make Vivienne and Cassandra leave you will the game force you to go with Leliana since you cannot get rid of advisors

Been a while since I've played orgins tbh. But yeah makes sense. As soon as you mentioned the name it goes into an exposition about how Justinia is "holy" blah blah "pure" etc, but that she started out or once was fallible (or dirty) as any mortal - and that's what the name connects to

Well, we knew she was Marjolaine's lover from Leliana's Song.

YES! LOVE this idea. Can't wait to dismantle the whole Chantry and tweak it how I see fit. I don't see the problem with these choices or why people are so passionately against it. At least they are characters we get to know in depth throughout the whole game before we make a decision. I think people take the Maker/Andraste/Chantry/Jesus/Christianity allegory waaaaaaay too seriously and rigidly. Would love to live in a world where a black witch was the Pope.

One companion will stay with you no matter what. That is either solas or cass - probably cass

This is a great idea, not sure why some are so against it. Alistair wasn't exactly a good choice to rule Fereldan, doesn't mean he won't become a good king.

You know, we might be reading far too much into this, what if those files only indicate which of those three will be advising the new Divine?

Check a page back. There's a sound file narrated by Morrigan confirming that Vivienne can become Divine.

Well, that's... disappointing. I really hope those three aren't the only choices.
Leliana's always struck me as a better agent than someone who would flourish in command, even if she has the acumen for it. Cassandra could probably do it, but she seems like someone that prefers to be hands on, not preaching a sermon.
Viviene... I'm just not sure I'd trust her or that I'd be willing to put a mage in that position if I value stability.
I guess I'd pick Cassandra if pressed.

Yeah, but those are only funny in Modern English. Hilarius means happy/cheerful, Simplicius means plain i.e. direct and Hyginus presumably means clean.

true. of course there also was a pope named Dionysius, he also was a siant, and a pope named Hormisdas. ie, popes named after deities that aren't part of christanity . Of course in the eastern roman empire, Dionysius had become a popular male first name, still funny to see a pope/saint named after Dionysius.
Hormisdas was apparently named after an exiled persian noble, named Hormozd. Not surprising that a persian noble would have a name related to Azhru-Mazda, the god of good in Zoroastrian. still interesting to see where pope's Hormisdas comes from.

I mostly just remember the ironic Pope names, like the several named Innocence.

With the hardon bioware seems to have for Fiona, I'm amazed she isn't an option.

Tevinter is different from White Chantry, if has a different opinion on mages.

I do have to wonder what would Bioware do with canon lore? Of course all three options could have the same name as Divine, but mage White Divine would be the first since foundation of the Chantry, and this fact is pretty hard to ignore in the lore.

They'll make the next game in the North/Tevinter, so that it's only referenced.

Mike mentioned he'd like to take DA north next, so I'm guessing they'll deal with it by getting far away from the direct implications.

Unless the game is taken North so the White Chantry can purge Tevinter...

Still. I'd bet Tevinters would gloat about this fact, if Vivienne became the White Divine.
