i have a female saiyan right now named Lettus
Well within the actual naming range of the show, haha. Good job. I wouldn't be that clever.

for me this goes back to my old MUD days, there used to be dozens of DBZ MUDs back in late 90s early 2000's, and i kind of came up with it back then, this is just me finally being able to make a saiyan and play in the game world using that name.
it's a shame the servers are acting up so much, i keep get disconnected.
Takahata101 as one of the player character voices. GOTY.
So how is this game? Is it like Mortal Kombat IX?
How is the customization?
I suppose it has single-player against AI, right?
I'll probably grab this sometime this weekend,
Then I can make Zerius, Grand Emperor of the Dark Nebula. My OC from when I was a youngin.

Take Ultimate Tenkaichi, Battle of Z, and Burst Limits best qualities.
Stuff it in a Blender.
That's what I've heard.

Customization is extensive, take every outfit ever seen in Dragon Ball/Z/GT and you'll probably find it here, or eventually will. As far as making your character there are 3 body types for females, 5 races to pick from 3 of which have different genders (Saiyan, human and majin), and there are various hair, eyes, nose, chin, and ear types to pick from based on each race. coloring your character runs the full gamut, same for your default clothes. you learn skills from completing fights or from a master, sometimes beating people will cause you to learn their skill but it depends on the parameters of the fight and some rng.
Any point to playing Saiyan over Earthling? Appearance wise the 2 are identical however unless I am missing something earthling just seems to have better bonuses?
I used to play the DBZ Budokai titles on the PS2 back in the day. I don't think I'll be grabbing this one though, I think my time with those games has passed. Still, cool for the nostalgia factor.

every race has its advantages, and the races with genders go the extra step and make the genders have their own strengths and weaknesses.
Saiyans over all have less health than humans but make up for with more stamina or ki i think. humans are balanced.
It looks interesting, but some of the DBZ games are not that great... the customization sounds awesome, but is the fighting good? Is there a lot of replay value?
Also, is the story any good?

Going Super Saiyan.

The story isn't exactly award winning, it's a generic simple plot from the looks of it, "someone is tampering with time, we need a special someone to help stop it." cue your PC being summoned through time and space or being created out of thin air to fight the on coming menace.
Fighting wise, it's a dragon ball z game, so if you played some of the ones from the last 10 years or so, you'll be fine. Though the throw manuver is awkward. LB + B?

That doesn't sound too bad... I mean, I'm not expecting Shakespeare, just a coherent tale that can hold my attention. I guess I'll give it a try at some point. ![]()

i could be more elaborate but i haven't gone that far yet myself but I do get the jest of whats happening. Future Trunks is apparently a time cop now, "Time Patroller" two villains are trying to mess up history, somehow powering up villains from the past so that they win their fights, Trunks sends the new recruit who was just summoned into existence that is you, to fight the old series plots with their slight twist. The fights aren't always straight forward, some have special requirements that you have to do in order to advance. After completing a mission you can likely find these things called Parallel Quest, in another part of the main hub, the PQ's offer quest based off of the story quest that you've done already. This PQ sometimes have 1 or 2 special bonus requirements that will extend the fights parameters and make it more likely that special gear drops during the fight.
Going Super Saiyan.
So how does that manifest in the game? What effect does it have and how do I use it?

i have yet to obtain it, as its a drop form a particularly hard fight (you have to trigger the transformation in Goku then beat him and hope he drops it for you.) once you obtain the skill just equip it, and in battle activate it, it consumes stamina and you can't turn it off, you have to let your stamina run out i believe. I would assume its like Kaioken, Kaioken x3, and Kaioken x20. Each stage of SSJ increases attack, ki blast and maybe defense, but again i can't say how much cause i dont have it yet. each level of Kaioken significantly does more damage than the previous one, but it also consumes more stamina with each higher level quicker than the previous one.
All skills have to be equipped in a manner, you get x amount of slots and some slots are locked to certain types of moves, transformations use one of the special move slots and you only get 4 of those and they correspond to one of the 4 face buttons on a gamepad.
there are 4 super attacks 2 ultimate attacks and one special evasion skill slot so thats 7 slots total.

I don't have the game.
But if you've watched Dragonball Z it should be obvious what the effects are.

I'll try to cop this whenever I finally buy a PS3. Last DBZ game I played, besides Raging Blast 2's demo, was Raging Blast when I had a 360. I didn't really dig it as much and returned it in a few days.
The making your own character seems intersting
Then again.....I think the last dbz game I played was like.........the original budokai one................early 2000's at best
After looking at some trailers, gameplay, I'm shocked to see the the actual storyone revolves around your custom player, plus there's some online action with other players
Ugh, why must new games cost 60 bucks a pop in the US. ![]()

Routine: 60$ for vanilla game + 60$ for plot important DLCs...
I don't know. Have you checked the rate of inflation and value of Dollar since 1995? Maybe the video games aren't that expensive.
I'd be playing now if the servers weren't a complete utter mess.
Game's good btw, but, Japanese. Simply put, it means that grinding is a gameplay element. I don't mind one bit, but seeing that people already think there's grinding in DA:I (lol lol), I thought it should be stated
Or as the game puts it: 'if you don't get a skill upon completing a parallel quest, do it again. Training takes effort!' Heh, that Asian mindset, love it.
oh man do you ever have to grind, i dont know how many times i've done certain quest just for gear pieces or skills.
