hello all!

i was just wondering if anyone knows yet, if you choose to play as a female mage inquisitor, can your character still have a relationship with cullen?

i know in the previous games he was all anti-mage, mostly, but i'm curious if maybe they've relaxed that side of him a bit, so that there isn't a huge restriction.

he's one of the few characters i can see my girl having a romance with, but i love playing as a mage >>

if anyone has an answer to this, i would be interested in hearing it :P

thanks in advance!

You can romance him as a human or elf female regardless of class. There is no class gating for any romance.

Beside he crushed hard on female mage warden.

In fact, most people I know who are romancing Cullen (myself included) are going to roll a Circle mage because of his history with mages and her history with templars. It'll hopefully make for a very interesting dynamic. I really hope we can build up the trust with Cullen as the game progresses instead of having them trust each other completely right off the bat. I'm probably setting myself up for disappointment with all my expectations for this romance, but one can hope, right?

Am I the only one who played Origins (as both male and female Warden) and thought Cullen was a huge prig every time? I mean, he'd been through some rough stuff, but he exhorted me to murder everyone. With all these Cullen fans, sometimes I feel like I must have interacted with an alternate-universe version of him in Origins. He was pretty cool for a Templar in DA2, but some people seem to have liked him since the first game.

I didn't like him in Origins but thought he had a significant amount of character development in DA2, so I liked him much better. You can talk to him in the Gallows after a few significant events and he'll add some insight to whatever conflicts he's having, even if they are brief. If you treat him like, "Bah, you were a jerk in Origins so I hate you now!" rather than just talking to him and not drawing attention to yourself, because of your sister and potentially because of the giant staff attached to your own back, then you're more likely to get a positive response from him. Or at least a more thoughtful one. And the fact that he sides with you against Meredith is a fairly large point in his favor. Basically, he grows up a lot during his time in Kirkwall.

I do plan on romancing him, but since this is Bioware, I doubt it will end well. Eh.

thanks for the replies :)

first time i played origins, i started out as a female mage. right off the bat he seemed interested in her, before leaving the circle. for a little while i thought he was going to be a romance option in that game >>

for inquisition, he seems like the only one right now that my girl will likely end up with. even though blackwall seems like a cool character as well, i'm not into fluffy beards like that, so he's a bit of a turn off. limits the people i'm willing to have my character end up with :|

regardless, looking forward to hopefully having something on origins level of awesome again!

At times in 2, he said things that grated on me. For example, he pretty much said that the rite of tranquility was a mercy since it was an alternative to killing and that mages are just whining about because they want no controls on them at all. Yeah, like being effectively lobotomized is so much better than being killed.
