Some of the choices might have been included because they shed light on who your Warden/Hawke was as a person. Kniving the prisoner could mean that you've either played an evil warden or a ruthless one but you probably didn't play him/her as the bleeding heart type.

Hmm, yeah I guess that's possible, although seeing as how the Warden isn't even in Dragon Age Inquisition not sure how it matters... unless it matters to DLC.
