I would not go as to say its a hostile environment for women thats taking it abit far most people that go to game stop have no game when comes to picking up women so they come off as creepy so happy i got game for days

It's not just the creepy molester attitude, it's the "girls don't play games" or "girls are stupid" mentality. Getting treated like a moron when buying a game, the insistence that "you're not really getting that for yourself, it must be for your boyfriend/brother/male friend/etc..." Or being accused of just playing games to get attention from male nerds. Every time I go to GameStop I get the workers ignoring male customers and making a beeline for me, treating me like a poor lost sheep or I get the third degree at the register or both. When I go with my brother (who doesn't play games) we are left alone and he's accepted as "legit." >_< At the grocery store or online I give them money and they give me the game. No leering, insults, patronizing questions.

Well since I did the digital version, me and a good friend from WOW will be playing at home in our ...well I don't know what she will be wearing, but  I will be in shorts and my Mass Effect t shirt!

Will end up doing multiplayer first so we can see if its possible to kill each other somehow..... don't judge.

Also I never really have understood the hate toward some girls who game. Out of our core raiders in the guild we have always had about 1/3 females ( yes real females with real female voices and...stuff) And it seems like they are just another team member/friend. I have had some non guildies act like creeps toward females in the guild. But those people are just creeps anyway.

Anyway, male, female or other, GAME ON BROTHERS AND SISTERS.... LEAD THEM OR FALL!

I'm hopeful that one day this will pass. Until then you have my condolences. I do my part to correct any and all false profiling concerning this and many other cultural sillinesses.

That is probably the reason I am so non-chalant about female gamers. As one of 5 males in a building of 45-50 people I am used to working around girls. The nurses /labtechs/xray techs/ect ect are just another team member to me.

Even if female gamers are a minority, that's no reason to behave so horribly. I used to wok at a fabric store and probably 95% of our customers were women (and teen girls). You could go days without seeing a male customer and if you were a cashier you have stock phrases that you say "thanks for shopping with us, have a good day" etc...and you just start to become robotic with it so the "how can I help you ma'am?" Flowed out so often that I accidentally/unconsciously said it to a man more than once. Of the few men who did come in, a high percentage had a shopping list from their wife or daughter and didn't know anything about sewing or fabric. Even so, I made no assumptions, didnt patronize them, certainly didnt try to awkwardly hit on them and even if they were completely ignorant I would help them find everything they need while still treating them like a thinking adult. This is not a tall order, but it's too much to expect from GameStop apparently.

That is an individual choice built upon your personality and actions; it has nothing to do with your sex. :)

I'm interested in learning why you associate it with sex rather than individuality.

Certainly there is an arguable biological component, but I tend toward the belief that, culture depending, one has plenty of freedom to choose plenty of other behavior patterns.

Yes, it stands to reason that, unless I hear a woman's voice before seeing her, I will attain visual confirmation of her existence prior to anything else. The same happens when women spot men -- it's called using one's eyesight. Naturally there may well be a sexually component involved, but this occurs in women just the same. When it doesn't, it's either due to cultural stigma ingrained in the individual or individual variables therein.

So your telling me you have to  Hear a women's voice for her  to exist  for you what about women that don't have that  capability ill chalk that up to poor choice of words on your part but i hope you don't mean that

no he is saying that if he doesn't hear a woman's voice he uses Eyesight to conrim her existance. If he hears a woman without seeing here he'll likely conclude the same thing, she exists. Even if this sound is just a recording of said person she exists.

No, you misunderstand me. Vehemently. To a point at which I don't believe this discussion will be resolved in a timely enough manner to excuse us for remaining so off-topic, so feel free to PM me if you wish to understand what I was attempting to convey to you in the previous message. I fear there is a profound degree of miscommunication at play here, but I don't believe it worth continuing to derail the thread in order to correct.

Something like that. I was essentially positing that the argument that men are more visually based than women because the first thing they notice is a subset of a woman's features does not necessarily separate men from women in that regard, as it appeared he/she was claiming.
