Warrior looks boring, or is it just me?

I have been a 2 hand warrior in both on my first playthroughs of DA:O and DA2. Playing around in early access for DA:I, warrior seemed so boring. It seemed like I spent most of my time chasing things down. Mages on the other hand seemed hella fun, and after that archers.

Also as a side note, looking at the UI, I will most likely play it with my XBOX 1 controller on my pc when it goes live. Mouse and keyboard just look like they may feel wonky. Anyone else have any thoughts?

Well too be fair this is something that usually plagues Warrior type classes - in virtually all games.

The melee aspect only ever seems to be a bit faster of a pace, is the Dagger-Rouge. I mean I will of course roll Warriors because I'm a perfectionist, so I must do ALL THE THINGS. But in general I tend to agree with you. Tanking does seem a -bit- more fun this time around due to new skills, and more or less the entire freakin' Champion tree. But yeah.

It a subjective thing. Some people are going to go, "Warrior? meh." Others will go "Warrior? Frak yeah!"

No more than DA2. I do miss the days of making a dual wielding warriors though, those were interesting.

I always play warrior in rpgs. In the beginning they do usually suck a bit but I think they get better as you reach cap level. Faster, stronger, tougher, etc.

Shouldn't the grappling hook ability address that?

I'd suspect some of the time, but I'm not 100% on if you can spam it like Scorpion whilst shouting "GET OVER HERE" while wearing your favorite black and yellow hood.

Welcome to rule 101 of being a worrier from table tops. Your just doing 2 things for the entire fight. Hitting thing and blocking things. Yes it looks boring and it will always look boring.

I'm actually looking forward to playing a Warrior... but I tend to like heavy armor with big weapons doing big damage.  I think it's personal preference.  The specializations and talents do a good job of adding a little flavor to them as well.

Just doing it once or twice a fight is enough to make it fun while keeping it fresh. :D

Whatever happend to the battlemage class that was in origins, that sounded really fun being a mage in heavy armor, or as it was called at the time "massive armor".

I'm not a big fan of the 2H Warrior tree, damage looks kinda low. They make good tanks though looks like.

Screw that noise.

I played MK9 at near tourney levels, every other "pro" was spamming that noise all up in everyone's business.

I want to be able to chain that stuff. Hit one mob with it, slam the sword down, kick a fool in the face to my side, spin around and grab another mob whilst cackling all sadistically and wondering what Scribbles is wearing back at my Keep.

I think it more depends on preference, maybe deep down you've liked Mages all along? :D

I think it looks great, but that's just me.

My advice: play a Mage if you have more fun, because that's really what it comes down to: fun

I am hoping it gets better, admittedly I played mage for longer and was able to dig farther into their tree. I prefer the heavy armor look so I usually roll warrior in RPGs.

this is just the first game that has me wanting to go mage for my first playthrough. First 2 game i basicly played offtank/dps allowed me to group everythign up and aoe trash down, then gang up on the boss with everyone else.

Anyones thoughts on using a controller to play it on PC? I almost feel dirty typing that......

Yeah the dmg does look kinda low, esp compared to the crazy dots that necromancers get, or the arcane warrior stuff.

It's my understanding that mages can wear heavy armor.  I plan on wearing heavy armor on my Necro.

Are you sure about that? I didn't see that option in Dragon Age 2, only in Origins when your strength was high enough.

It's now called"Knight enchanter".

HMM I saw no indication of that while playing the early access demo. The heavy armor had "warrior" restrictions on it,

the leather looking armor said "rogue". I could be wrong and just missed some but that is the way it was for my 6 hour playthrough. Maybe later in the game it is allowed.

From what I've seen warriors look BA.

I've played through DA:O, 7 times, start to finish (Don't judge me!) 5 of those times were as a Rogue.I played through DA2 one time as a Rogue, I mained a Rogue in WoW for 3 years, EQ for 4, I played a Rogue themed character in Skyrim (Several times.. Don't judge me!) and the Rogue archetype has ALWAYS been my go to class.

My first character in DA:I is going to be a Warrior, because it looks like it will be more fun than adhering to my tradition would be.

From what I've seen, most Mage specs and all Rogue specs got shafted with a big fat dose of boring design this time around. Champion, Reaver and Templar though?

Gimme dat.

So, yeah. to you it may look boring, but to me it looks like the only fun class this game is going to have.

Really?  I thought the devs said in one of the webcasts that they can..

I'm going to be very sad if mages can't wear heavy armor... I'm probably the only person who is not fan of the robes I see most of the inquisitor mages wearing.  The Vinatori spell binders look awesome and much cooler than any of the inquisitor mages I have seen.  I wish we could have floating spell books and flowing robes while we cast spells lol
