Warrior looks boring, or is it just me?

For myself, Templar and Reaver looks super fun, Champion a bit less exciting. But I've only seen super brief clips of each (trying to keep my spoilerage to a minimum) so I might end up liking champion. I think it all depends on your play-style, different strokes for different folks.

I'm not a big fan of the 2H Warrior tree, damage looks kinda low. They make good tanks though looks like.

I doubt they'd allow the 2H class to do low damage, ruins the entire point in that weapon spec

"Mage Inquisitors can wear heavy armor so long as the right armor is crafted"

You probably have to find the right schematic for mage-type heavy armor.

I don't like this route, personally, but at least the option exists.

Well too be fair this is something that usually plagues Warrior type classes - in virtually all games.

The melee aspect only ever seems to be a bit faster of a pace, is the Dagger-Rouge. I mean I will of course roll Warriors because I'm a perfectionist, so I must do ALL THE THINGS. But in general I tend to agree with you. Tanking does seem a -bit- more fun this time around due to new skills, and more or less the entire freakin' Champion tree. But yeah.

Then games are not worth playing.  Did you not see him type Origins & DA2?

Barbarian in D2 and Warrior in WoW are/were amazing

If we mean just the simplistic tanking archetype, then I agree it can be pretty boring

Having played through early access, I was surprised how fun 2H was, having not enjoyed it in Origins nor DA2. And grappling hook helps a lot.

I've always found the warrior class boring. Unsure why the warrior is always such a snore. But this seems to be an issue with warriors in general.

Last I checked, Origins/2 were under my umbrella of virtually all games.

Seeing as how, they're games. I referred to the general archetype yes, as I mentioned. Most Warriors move slowly, not all but most. It's kind of the trade off. You're big, bulky and a tank. So you don't get to transport halfway across the map and sink your blade into someone's back to do 10000000000000 damage while having 100000000000000 defense/HP.

HMM I saw no indication of that while playing the early access demo. The heavy armor had "warrior" restrictions on it,

the leather looking armor said "rogue". I could be wrong and just missed some but that is the way it was for my 6 hour playthrough. Maybe later in the game it is allowed.

There are crafting kits, apparently, that let you break out of this mold.

Funny, this is the first DA game where I've actually wanted to play a warrior. Mainly because of the guard and blocking abilities.

No, you need to be more clear.  When I think warrior I don't think of a bunch of no name D&D inspired games designed by warrior haters.  I play Barbarian, and Warrior.

Warriors are the best and only class worth playing.  There is no rush like playing a Warrior.

Warrior > Rogue in every game, except in D2 LoD where for me the Assassin edges out the Barbarian, but she frankly plays like a Warrior.

Really?  I thought the devs said in one of the webcasts that they can..

"Mage Inquisitors can wear heavy armor so long as the right armor is crafted"

It probably is technically heavy armor... for a mage. It may offer higher protection than a robe (and also for different style) but there's probably still a pretty big gap between Warrior and Mage heavy armor. One should hope so anyway :/

Naw they look good. Templars and champions and reavers play massively differently and their skills differentiate massively. I will be having my husband (Iron Bull) and Blackwall and Cassandra in my party all at once.

A warrior can be built in a ridiculous many fashions in DA:I... and I honestly like it. Buff/debuff oriented is present, massive damage is present, tanks are present... lifesteal is present, and hybrids are certainly a possibility now.

I overall am actually pretty excited for my 3-warrior + me as necromancer party. It is likely to be loco, but it will be hilarious and badass and awesome. They seem incredible in DA:I.

Me however? I am a mage main, always have been always will be. I will never change my path!

This has an amusing childrens story book feel to it.

Shouldn't the grappling hook ability address that?

Yep, 1st skill I picked up, hella fun

I'd suspect some of the time, but I'm not 100% on if you can spam it like Scorpion whilst shouting "GET OVER HERE" while wearing your favorite black and yellow hood.

It has pretty short cooldown and it perfect against Archers and Wraiths

To be honest with you, none of the combat looks overly exciting. That said i'm still hype for the game

Chasing stuff as a Warrior probably gets better later on when you have chains, hamstring, multiple stuns, multiple knockdowns, and a charge.

Reaver looks insane dmg and suicidal crazyness.  Champion seems pretty much unkillable.  Templar however does seem pretty vanilla and boring, but I'll have to see it in full action. I wonder, does HP still deplete while you use Reaver abilities and have Guard up? I know it takes away from HP if you have a Barrier but not sure about Guard.

I also want to see the dmg difference between a 2H and 1H to fully decide whether I will be sword+shield or 2H.

I think warriors looks good this time. You have a lot of new stuff to pick. Hooks, taunts, charges. But i always like to play as a warrior, i found it more difficult than the other classes, except maybe the dual daggers rogue. I like the mages too, but i feel they are op in all DA games.

Well, I dont know if Id use the word "boring" , but rather "plain".

I've always played as a warrior as I like the physical side of it. Magic is awesome and ranged combat is great in certain situations, but I like being at the front of the battle, soaking up damage and dealing it out all the same. I like my sword and shield combat, you would call it plain (which it kinda is) but I would call it effective and satisfying.

I think the thing about warriors in DA, they examplify the "boring but practical" trope.

Personally I'm still in two minds about what my first character will be, my two favourite DA:O play-throughs were as a mage and as a shield warrior.

Although I loved the mage (it was my first play through so has that cherry popping nostalgia) I found the shield warrior much more satisfying and had more of a feeling that I could take on anything. My mage was deadly, but did need a team to help her. My dwarf noble warrior felt like he could take on the dragon single-handed (but he couldn't).

As for having to chase after enemies, that's what the mages/archers on the team are for.

Would be really cool if they had put in Spirit Warrior from DA:A.  So crazy.

I'm chasing nothing. If my chain is on cooldown my mage is going to cc anything outside my swing radius until i can get it inside my swing radius.

I was going to go for a 2-handed warrior for my main human play through. I usually roll a dps class but feel that being a rogue doesn't quite fit the human background for the inquisitor all that well (being a noble and all that). After watching gameplay videos however, I couldn't help but end up thinking the size of the 2-handers (and the dramatic way which they are flung around) appear to me a bit silly and overwhelming.

Think I might go for a sword/board reaver, might not be the most effective combination but I'll be playing on normal so shouldn't struggle too much. Always the temptation to roll a rogue anyway as I always prefer more practical medium armour in rpg's as opposed to huge clunky sets of plate, however there seems to be a few more reasonable heavy armour sets in inquisition than origins thankfully and I could always save the rogue for an elf playthrough anyhow.

The conclusion is... I'm very picky and no doubt will end up making a (probably wrong) on the spur choice when I boot the game up on the 20th.
