It would appear that instead of the game becoming available at midnight in your respective timezone, this time it's midnight eastern, same as digital. So those in pst get to pick it up at 9pm and so forth.

Just thought everyone should know. I just found this out just now when I got the call about my preorder.

Yes, I found this out as well. Good idea to mention it though just in case. Sure, I might be in line till 10 or 11pm -anyway- considering my EB has this particular thing going with a Platinum Party. Allowing Plat members to fast past at 7pm, buying the game, and then at 9 simply walking in getting it and walking out. So I'll still have to wait, but it means I'll likely get HOME at midnight.

Instead of 2am.

Protip about picking up at Midnight; If your goal is to socialize in line with other Bioware / Dragon Age fans, definitely get there a bit early and have a good time. But if your only goal is to get the game with as little hassle as possible, do yourself a favor and drive to GameStop about 15 minutes after midnight (or for non-East Coast players, 15 minutes after the exact release hour in your timezone). You'll avoid the hassle of waiting in line, parking spots will be available again, and you can just go in, pay, get your game, and leave.

I talked to an employee today, and got more info about how lining up actually works.

Last time I went to one of the midnight releases (Skyrim), it was just a big, long line. Now, apparently, I go at 6 or 9 (ish) and get my receipt and place in line reserved, so I can show up at 15 minutes till midnight or whatever and the line goes fairly quick cuz you get in and get out. Sounds nice to me.

That's how it worked for me at Destiny's midnight launch too. Very convenient. Made the line go by much faster.

I'm kind of curious on how they will handle this midnight launch since there are so many games being released on the 18th. Will there be separate lines for each game? One cashier to each line? I suppose I can call my nearest GameStop and ask them.

Probably not. Some people are picking up multiple games. Usually just one line and you get your game(s) same as usual.

not that it concerns DAI but are they doing this for the other big game that releases later in the week on the 21st, Pokemon ORAS?

Awesome! This was the one thing that might've (but really still wouldn't) made me buy a digital copy. Now I get the physical copy plus I get it at 9pm!!

I was told this as well when I went in to finally buy an Xbox One.  I'm still not sure if I will go on Monday.. I've never been to a midnight (er.. well, 9PM) launch before.  Is it hectic?  I've already paid for it and kind of just want to go in and out and not linger around.

I know it's like GTA V, Far Cry 4, and DA:I all at once and I'm already argh at the thought of all the people.

But I really want to play already.

Shouldn't be. It really is kinda in and out if you time it right. It used to be hectic, but they streamlined things.

No. There's no midnight launch for oras. They usually don't have one for 3ds games.

Damn, so I have to be up past Midnight before I play the game and others can be playing it at 9pm, 10pm ect  ....  Let's just do away with time zones period then LOL  :P

I really think they're going to make this a thing for any game with MP, that way more people can play at once.

I wouldn't wait 15 minutes, my gamestop has you pre-pay at 10 then you just get in line and they check off your receipt at 12. Once everyone is gone the lock up. I've seen them close at 12:05 because everyone was in and out so quick and I've seen them open until 12:30. Waiting on purpose is a good way to accidentally miss your "Midnight" release.

Though some people do get there at 11:45 or 12ish but they have to wait in line last because everyone is already in the pick up line because they were smart enough to pre-pay.

This is correct.

I'm a former game advisor (I worked during the new-gen launches), and this was something started to alleviate the big lines. Get in once they start handing out tickets (they should either call you or you can call them to find out at what time that is), finalize your order and pick up your "number," then come back for the launch party and they should get you in line. It saves a ton of time and hassle for everyone.

... oh, and have fun!

Well, this is wonderful news.  I was actually concerned about the whole midnight release since it's supposed to snow a good bit that night, and was debating just waiting till the morning to get it...  But if I can get the game two hours earlier, I shouldn't have to deal with as much snow...

What time zone is Nebraska in?  If it's in the Eastern time zone, you get it at midnight local. If it's in the Central time zone, you get it at 11pm local.  Mountain, 10pm local.  And Pacific, 9pm local.

And if you find that Nebraska is in Alaska or Hawaii, you get it at 8pm or 7pm local, respectively...

Apparently I live in Central Nebraska because I just called my GameStop and they said they're only releasing it at 11pm lol

Well this is both good and bad. PST here so.. 9pm? That's 30 minutes (at the earliest) before I could get a ride there. Looks like I'm walkin' to my gamestop. It's a good thing I'm in perfect (horrible) shape. <_< *sighs*

Whatever means I get to play the game by 10pm, woooo.

I just called my Gamestop in CA to confirm, and it is indeed at 9pm. However, I have a meeting that typically runs to 10-10:30 so I asked how late they would remain open... in typical Gamestop fashion, they had no idea.

Does anyone know if it's still a "midnight" release? As in the store will be open at midnight? I can't imagine everyone getting the message that it's East Coast midnight and not Pacific midnight... hopefully there's a long line...

Came back home to waste some more time, but I got my receipt marked and they will be starting to hand out copies at 10:01pm so expect your gamestop to do the same thing
