So i'm sure we all know that EA tried to sell the idea of EA access to Microsoft and Sony to be used on the XB1 and PS4 respectively.

Sony turned EA down.

Kinda nit picky IMO but ok.

But what does it say about the service and PC gaming if EA didn't put it on the PC?

At least have some sort of feature on Origin that allows PC gamers a chance to pre-order DAI, pre load and play 6 hours early a la XB1's EA access. It doesn't have to be 5 days early, just throw PC gamers a fuggin bone here.

Sure PC is "the best gaming system" but its never treated as such, even by the publishers and developers trying to sell these hyped products and services on said system.

Especially where Bioware is concerned, most Bioware games should probably take lead on PC and when customers don't see the same attention given to a system that is loved as much as consoles, now let's face it, people LOVE to love consoles. I get it, not talking down to consoles or console gamers. i grew up on consoles and have stated many times on these here forums, it was because of Bioware and Baldur's Gate that got me into PC gaming.

So why the shaft? And ultimately one subset of gamers are getting the better deal of all these swell Dragon Age fans here and that's the minority XB1 gamers. They get the game cheaper and EA access even pays for itself!!!???

Would any of you PC gamers have taken a deal like this, let's say, allowing you to basically start early on PC at 6pm on Monday the 17th?

Let me also iterate that I have NO ILL WILL to any type of gamer or company here. I just want to be heard and if possible the people, that would have enjoyed and payed for this service, to be heard as well.

Please let me know how you PC and console gamers feel about this, cheers all.

pc has a way to play at 7 AM on Monday...so no. Though it is frowned upon(but not acted upon) by EA, so I won't go into detail.

I would've paid subscription for the EA Access Inquisition trial if it were available on PC, the only reason I did not pay for the trial is because it was on Xboxone, and I wanted my save game on PC.

They would have made more money if they allowed it on PC as well as Xbox.

For some reason M$ wants to push their Xbox gaming system and forget that people play on PC too, despite Windows being an M$ product. Look at windows 8. They want to forget that the desktops and laptops even exist and just make operating systems for tablets. I guess they make more money from people playing on xbox.

5$ for 6 hours a week early? No thanks, I have a bit (very little admittedly, but enough) of self-restraint.

let me clarify something.

you get a discount buying DAI when you purchase a month of EA access, and you end up actually getting access for free and DAI for like 10% off so it pays for itself, its basically free with a game discount.

As a PC Lord myself I feel your pain man. These console peasants seam to have all the fun. :P But seriously, maybe they're testing the waters on consoles. If all goes well I see no reason why they wouldn't have it on PC.

They didn't want to risk letting it out into the PC wilds early in case it got loose, which is fair enough I suppose.

They could/should have done something with the character creator though. The hype would be off the charts by now if they had.

Aurok probably has it right. It sounds like the EA Access version is the full game, they simply popped a timer in there instead of cutting out all of the other content which can cause serious issues.

The problem with letting PC players have all of the game files on their hard drive is that it's not difficult for that to be cracked and the game released early by pirates.

Wow, interesting to see community moderators show up. :)

OT: I wouldnt have used this feature even if it was available to pc players. 6 hours isn't enough time :) All or nothing for me

No they don't. MS is essentially committing suicide. They have been for quite awhile.

Their push for XBox - which is not so much a push as a strangling of the only competition they can control in-house, i.e. the PC - is not because they make money on the XBox. It's because they don't and figure they need to improve things to maximize the return of investments. Meanwhile, the foundation for MS's finances, the Windows-PC, is ever more eroded on the market.

I've always said it. It's the applications that sell the platform. And MS has neglected the mass market for the PC for a long time now. Ever since Gates stepped down. The problem with that, is that it's the mass market which defines the economy of the PC. Once PCs eventually become only expensive workstations, MS will sit there with a phone system having one % of the market, a tablet having one % of the market, a server OS having one % of the market, an OS for manufacturers of special equipment having one % of the market. And 30-50% of the game console market that is turned upside down with every new generation, and which will be utterly annihilated the first day when Apple finally release their first gaming console. And they subsidized it all with income from the Windows-PC and they traded total dominance of the PC for it all. Way to go, Ballmer.

Well that's solved by the new Denuvo Anti-Tamper mechanism DAI uses (at least for the near future). So I don't see why EA Access can't be implemented.

I thought that Anti-Tamper makes it so you can't change the .exe file. Origin is the DRM.

I imagine EA Access is not on PC for a combination of piracy risk and the fact that it wouldn't sell well, in general, compared to consoles. Also I believe Microsoft paid EA for the privilege (I believe Sony turned it down not only because they would compete with PS Now but because Sony would have to pay them to implement it) and there's no such vendor on the PC. Perhaps EA is not making it's primary money on Access from subscriptions, I don't know. Not sure on the model.

EA Access definitely isn't about Dragon Age per se (it'll be a long time, I predict, till the full game of DA:I is up there, if ever). And DA:I isn't the first early access trial either. It's just something that's added-on, and this happens to be an EA game. So when coming up with the model, it's not like "Hmm....will PC Dragon Age fans pay for a month just to get a trial...." was ever considered. Really, the service is like a Netflix for EA games.

Everyone on PC has this. There are free VPN services out there that you can use for the low cost of $0.

Honestly, unlocking the game nearly 24 hours in advance is significantly better to me than paying to play the first 6 hours early. By the time the official release day comes I'll have sunk far more than 6 hours into it.

Have a VPN recommendation?  Spotflux has not been my friend during preload.

Lol, the people playing early on xbone are playing at 900p. In the year 2014. So yeah, still the master race.
