So, if I buy/preorder standard edition now, will I be able to upgrade to Deluxe Edition sometimes after the launch?

No one knows.

Indeed.  No one seems to know or be willing to share that information.  For example, asking the Origin Twitter account resulted in:

@OriginInsider

@USER We have no word on that at this time, be sure to stay tuned for all the latest news and updates in the future.

So, basically, no clue, standard response #5.

If it's anything like the ME3 Collectors edition, then no. I bought the standard edition for less than £5 but then I really wanted the extra squad outfits and whatnot but the only way to do that was to pay over £30 for the CE. No way was I gonna do that.

Key sellers probably will. I bought the Lion of Orlais off of one.

The extra stuff for ME3 did come out as separate DLC.... eventually.  Like, six months or more later.  Which doesn't look good for this time around :(

I can see it happening.  A lot of the newer EA games have Digital Deluxe Upgrades available (Dead Space, Mass Effect, The Sims4, Simcity, Crysis 3) so it looks good that Inquisition will have one.

Can you point me in the direction of the DLC that contains the CE squad outfits? They're not included in the Alternate Appearance Pack if that's what you mean. I'm not doubting you, I'd seriously like to get them.

Okay everyone ignore me, I don't know when it came out but I just checked the Origin store and there is, in fact, an upgrade option which wasn't there last time I looked (which was yonks ago) and it's only a fiver. Cool beanz, buying it now.

Exactly.  It's handy for those that didn't get it originally.  Even if it was ten or fifteen $/£ it would still be less than buying an entire other copy of the game.  I think the only question is WHEN it will be available, rather than if, and I think only those who already have the standard version of the game can tell us.  If those people could look at their games in Origin and tell us if the deluxe gear appears as a purchasable DLC when the game lanches, that would be handy.

^ Yeah, that would be awesome.

I'm really interested in the mounts & soundtrack but I don't want to buy the digital version. Then again, I don't want to wait six months for an upgrade.

I have the Sims 4 and the Digital Deluxe upgrade for that was available day 1.  So it looks good that it will be there.

Thanks for looking. I am an idiot. I thought all DLC was bought through BSN and Bioware points.

I guess it's standard edition... for now.

In theory, anyone with the game pre-loaded (or possibly already visible in Origin) should be able to tell us if there is a purchase DLC option against the deluxe items.  We know they can be seen listed the same way the DLCs are listed for DAO, DA2, ME3 and so on, it just says "unavailable" at the moment I think.  Someone shared pictures of it in another thread.  We just don't know what happens when the game becomes available yet.

I really wish I could give Bioware/EA more money, but they don't seem to want that extra fat $10 I'm willing to throw at them. Their loss.

 only because they are planning to get more than $10 from you selling extra content as DLCs. Probably planning to sell the Inquisitor Armor alone for $9.99

I tracked down the images someone had posted of the "add-ons & bonuses" listed under DAI in Origin.

And a comparison to another game whose add-ons are purchasable.

So we won't know if we'll get BUY buttons until the extras get released, presumably at the same time the game itself is.

It would be stupid if they didn't, its lost money and they never promised exlusivity.
