On paper they should be very close. Dexterity and Strength each add half a point to melee Attack, and every point of Magic past the base 10 adds +1 Spellpower. That's why I thought this would work great...
But after comparing them in-game like I'd said just to be sure, I found something that makes no sense to me at all; my melee characters consistently have roughly 3 times more Attack than my casters have Spellpower!
I've checked everything. Talents, equipment, skills, effects, stats, and they all have nearly 3 times the Attack they logically should (high 70s rather than the high 20s it should be).
Would anyone happen to know why this is, and if it's temporary, whether or not it really would be possible to replace Attack with Spellpower for AWs?
If it helps, here are some concrete examples:
Zevran has 17 Strength, 31 Dexterity, +2 Attack from Combat Training 3 (nothing from talents, effects, items or spec), and 72 total attack rather than the 26 it should be.
Morrigan has 30 Magic, +4 Spellpower from her staff (no benefits from skills, spells, effects or spec), and 24 total Spellpower.
My characters are in the Brecillian ruins, all level 9.
-Edit- I just created a new character, and apparently you start with a base of around 50 Attack/Defense. So let me revise that last question; should it be possible to have Combat Magic for AWs replace the use of Attack with Spellpower, with a base value of like 50 added to the hit check?
