Im surprised i haven't found a Elf version if the Dwarf thread.
so anyone going elven in DA.i?
Its either Elf or Dwarf for me.
I'm using an elf for at least my first and third playthroughs
And probably more than that

Any thread that has the word Elf in it gets locked. Just give it time.
I for one, gonna play a female elf mage.
Yes of course! Most likely a Male Mage, but might end up going with Female if it's too difficult to find a fitting look.
First playthrough will be elf archer assassin. I have my build already planned and written down.
I most certainly will, just not on my first playthrough Most likely human or dwarf. Slight chance of Qunari.
Side note: There used to be an elven support thread, but it, and the one before it, have a tendency to get swarmed by anti-elf trolls and usually end up locked.

Nah, pro-elves just can't take criticism and labels it as trolling. Unless you don't shower the elves with praises and feel sorry for them while lashing out at the rest of the races, you're a troll.
Yes, and the Inquisitor will be my main char in the DA universe, all the others will be like my hawke. Its one of the reasons I am so exicted, btw. You have not found any other Elven support thread becouse our big last one was destroyed by trolls... damn elf-haters, anyway Elves are my favourite race in the DA universe and in any fantasy game, exept for TES series, in oblivion the males sounded like that breath hellium and the females have sounded like some kind of a 70 years old female who have smoked all of her life.

I didnot know that being short and poiny eared was a toutchy subject. i just like the DA concept as it differes from the fantasy "norm" as it were.
In my second playthrough I am planning an Elf that will romance Solas.
I do have a question about the dalish though. How do they worship the elven deities?

Yes, I'm planning on playing as an elven mage in my first run, as a male who looks ethnically Antivan (which is the closest equivalent I can get to Latino in Thedas); I like the lore surrounding the elves, and I'm a fan of the Dalish. I'm looking forward to playing as a pro-Dalish elven Inquisitor who follows the faith of the elven gods and believes magic is a gift of the Creators.
I'm playing a Dalish first , for me it's the most interesting background (well if there's some Dalish/elven stuff in game , we shall see)
Also it amuses me to have an elven savior , I mean people likes dwarves and they have some financial power .
They fear Qunari , since 300 years ago the Qunari invaded Thedas.
But elves?Nobody take them seriously ...I always felt like the elves needed a hero of their own .Somehow Shartan and Garahel are not that popular .
And saving humans from this catastrophe can be bittersweet for an elf , afterall some Dalish are just waiting (since forever) for humans nations to crumble .
The thing that intrest me most in Elves, is their history.. Especially Arlathan, where the heck did it dissapear? ![]()
I have a theory it was sucked into the fade.

No, it's not that. In fact, Elf threads tend to be popular and I think this is the fourth one I've seen in this part of the forum. But then the usual arguments happen:
-Was Arlathan a slaver society?
-What happened during the Dales-Orlesian war?
-Dalish: valiant preservers of a noble culture or snobbish xenophobic relics? Or both?
-What should be done to help City Elves?
-Merrill and her Eluvian.
Some people try to have a nice discussion. Others only want to preach. And then there's the trolls. Finally, the thread ends up locked. It's like the Reaper cycle in Mass Effect.
Hmm some say it is actually the Golden City.. ![]()
what I am curious about is how do the dalish worship their deities? with songs, hymns and prayers? with offerings and sacrifices? both?
I'm wondering why there isn't more talk of Shartan and Garahel, basically, they've been reduced to "oh, and those guys".
And what makes them believe the Creators were tricked, when at times they claim they've abandoned them and that by being more elfy is the key to their return. Some things just don't make much sense.
Yes! Let's show those Shemlen we're not afraid!
I do have a question about the dalish though. How do they worship the elven deities?
If you mean how the elves retained some of their lore after centuries of slavery by the Imperium, the developers mentioned some kept scraps of information as slaves, and some elven slaves retained their knowledge and used it to help create the order of the Grey Wardens and the ritual of the Joining. There was likely more research done when the elves had their freedom and their own homeland, given the presence of the statutes of the Creators (as with Zathrian's clan). The Creators are believed to be trapped in the Eternal City due to the machinations of Fen'Harel
Vallaslin, or blood writing as the shemlen call it, is also a religious ritual that invokes the faith of the Creators. Keeper Gisharel wrote, "When the children of our people came of age, they earn the privilege of wearing the vallaslin, the blood writing. It sets us apart from the shemlen, and from the elves who have thrown their lot in with them. It reminds us that we will never again surrender our traditions and beliefs." It's very important to the traditions and beliefs of the People.
Gisharel wrote, "The ritual deserves great reverence. The one who is to gain the vallaslin must prepare by meditating on the gods and the ways of our people, and by purifying the body and the skin. When the time comes, the keeper of the clan applies the blood writing. This is done in complete silence. Cries of pain are signs of weakness. If one cannot tolerate the pain of the blood writing, they are not ready to undertake the responsibilities of an adult. The keeper may stop the ritual if they decide that the one gaining the vallaslin is not ready. There is no shame in this, for all children are different, and our ancestors once took centuries to come of age. "
-Was Arlathan a slaver society?
I havent seen any evidence to the contery
-What happened during the Dales-Orlesian war?
Umm i assume they hit each other.
-Dalish: valiant preservers of a noble culture or snobbish xenophobic relics? Or both?
Both.
-What should be done to help City Elves?
revolt.
-Merrill and her Eluvian.
