Aaand here we are again. With the usual suspects blacklisted, this thread is actually quite clean ![]()
Anyhow....I'm kinda interested if having both the warden and the inquisitor be dale elves is going to be reflected in the world. I mean first the warden saving the world and now the inquisitor with her world-saving magic hand are quite hard to Shartan away no matter how much the shems might want to.

Sulu I mostly like the FEMALE city elven story. I mean, that is more powerful than the male one. Spoiler from DAO: Especially when they see what this female can do, and that son of a that noble.. Forgot his name, and yes i am a male my self and yes I am straight. But in my opinnion a man that says a female is weak an second class, or a man who rapes, is not a MEN.
Same hear. well asside from the male part.
i still like that origen.

In any game that affords the option to play as elves, I will always play them first. In Inquisition, I'll be playing a male elf rogue (with daggers) for my first playthrough, and probably a female elf for my second playthrough. ![]()

Grumblings aside I play elf every time, this time round a Dalish Mage as it was never available on 360. Archer looks really good so second or third playthru rogue.

Really?
She has already helped them. Part of how Gaspard got noble support was using the fact that Celene was making the University of Orlais teach that elves and Humans are equal against her. You truly think he got the support of the elf hating nobility and is suddenly going to be pro elf?
Also, in TME Gaspard says flat out that elves will never be equal to humans, whereas Celene at the end makes very clear that city elf/human equality is her goal when she states that the city elves and humans are both orlesians and there is no difference.

She helped them by burning down alienages?

She chooses to sacrifice the Elves just to prove her point to the nobility, so she could keep herself in the power. At this point I don't know why people keep saying that she still care for the elves since she just choose herself instead of her own people.

Blessed is the Prophet, purified by Flame.
She was just trying to save their souls, obviously.

Well then I guess people wouldn't want her to "Free" all the elves....

My only problem with Gaspard is him wanting to attack Ferelden. While I don't agree with his methods, Orlais needs those methods to be ruled. How else would you control those vicious vicious nobles.

The problem is that orleasian chevaliers are the worst kind of nobles. The orlesian merchant in the Denerim market place provides an account on how the Chevaliers in Orlais are granted "privileges" and that they are allowed to do whatever they want (including rape) to the lesser born.

And in Fereldan the same thing happens.
Surprise surprise.

Not really, unless the targets of abuse are elves which happens in every nation. Nobility is nowhere close to Orlais in matters of viciousness. Chevaliers are practically monsters. "Defend us, in return do whatever you like"

They were rebelling. Rightfully or not you sort of have to put those down if you don't want your kingdom to destabilize. Gaspard himself pointed out that the fault of that particular situation was the fault of Halamshiral's leader for not dealing with it before it got so bad and Celene's hand was forced.
As far as how much she cares about the Elves. She does to an extent, but my takeaway by the end of TME is that she will never go as far as she could to free them due to how bad things could get politically with the nobles who would never accept Elves rising so much from their current stations, at least not her life time. Basically she has certain beliefs, but not enough conviction to push them strongly if it endangers her position/life or Orlais itself.

The feeling I got from Celene was that she only supported the Elves when it was convenient for her to to so. Once something else she considered more important came up she was quick to either sacrifice them for her status or put on the back-burner. Briala makes a similar connection at the end of the book.

True. Celene has the intention, Gaspard hasn't. However, there's another axis to be taken into consideration: the will to make their intentions come true. Gaspard has will in spades. Lots of will. We know that he will kill his own supporters if they go against his promises. Meanwhile, Celene lacks that commitment. I think that was the point of TME.
That means that the only positive solutions for the elves are either to make Gaspard promise his help or to turn Celene into a more committed ruler (committed to their interests, mind you; being committed to the arts doesn't count).
