I guess it would depend on how it was said..

Even for a dalish among their clan magic isn't always a gift.

Is "stone children" really a slur towards dwarves? I mean they do consider themselves "born from the stone" don't they? That would make them "children of the stone" or "stone children" would it not?
I guess it would depend on how it was said..
I'd love to see you explain how "quick children" came about.
Seriously.

Thank you to whoever said supporting Gaspard helped Briala and the Elves; I'm playing as a Dalish Mage pro-dalish all the way. Cant wait to see reactions to anti-Andraste herald. And if I get option to execute sociopath Celene myself ..gravy.

In universe lore says that when the immortal elves first met humans, the elves saw how fleeting their lives were and how rapidly they pushed events because of their shortened lives. It wasn't a slur originally; it was just how they were viewed, they lived as long as an elven childhood

In universe lore has all but done away with the existence of elven immortality too.
So i wonder how it ACTUALLY came about.

There's certainly a difference between 'shemlen' and the derogatory 'shem', but then again, given the vitriol of the people who seem intent on hijacking this thread and alienating anyone remotely interested in discussing elves in a support thread, I think you're speaking to the wrong crowd.

The only difference to anyone who hears it is three letters. Don't dress it up any different than it is just because it's elven.

So apparently the dalish kill extra mage children if there's too many mages in the clan and no one else needs them?
Da ****?

This surprises people?
Finite resources, finite space?
Roaming isolationist extremists?

You'd think at the very least they'd dump them near a damn city so the templars could take them to a circle of magi.
Not slaughter them because "welp too many mages sorry!"

I just sided with the templars as a dalish mage
My PC first brought up the whole "they move them around." then Vivi mentions they don't live if no other clan needs them though.
And my PC can have the choice to say "at least they died free."
SMH.

I've been saying for years there wasn't much redeemable for the Dalish.
Them murdering their own doesn't shock me.

Spoilerand talked to Vivi afterwards. She brings up the dalish only having at most 3 mages to the clan.

I'm not going to say anything. I want to see how the Dalish apologist explain this one without admitting the Dalish are wrong or that mages truly are a danger. It's a Win-Win.

It's easy to hate Dalish as an outsider character. I love it from the PC perspective though. Same with dwarves.
If I wanted to be a diplomatic do gooder all the time, it's probably not the best choice. But I like the Dalish when playing an aggressive and disagreeable stance. I don't like Duncan, Alistair, Wynne.. for example. And it feels much more at home being that way as a Dalish .

Heh I'm playing a dalish mage who hated it there. I guess I can headcanon her seeing her best friend get killed from being the third mage. She was too weak to leave after that but once the Inquisition fest happened she was out ![]()

I am going with a Dalish elf again. My goal is to create a great lineage of elf saviors that will earn man's respect for elves. I just hope my inquisitor can meet my Dalish warden and just say, "sup bra?"

She's definitely making the logical choice if she plans on having more than a single child.

Ah, yet another reason for me to hate the Dalish. You think they could seen the mages they can't care for to the circles. But no, better to just kill them so they die free. Thats some Qun level twisted Bull.
