Yet only one lets their children starve to death en masse. Hmm.

I think I'll laugh. The Dalish's arrogance always annoyed me. I only wished I could spread this information to all Dalish so the fools could stop taking pride in slave marking.

I like the Elf inquisitor. DO not know why, but out of that and the Qunari, it just fits better. Plus, I get more dialogue at haven with Solas about elves which is nice.

DA:I has made one thing for sure: That the elves are the source of everything that is fucked up in Thedas!

I didn't know about Arlathan. Damn, BioWare has officially chopped and stewed this.

I'm playing as a Qunari Assassin right now and my next playthrough I'm planning on rolling a Elf Reaver. I think the elves look really cool and different in this game versus Origins. I kind of wish I could give my future Elf Inquisitor Fenris' hairstyle from DA2. It's an option for females I think, but males either get really short or really long hairstyles from what I've seen.

Wow, they really kicked the everloving hell out of the dalish lore didn't they? I'm starting to wonder if Gaider has something against them
. Still, I'll miss the whole Native-american parallels they used to have, damn shame about that,

What? You guys don't find it supremely satisfactory that the Elves (or more specifically the Dalish) are to blame for all their own failings?

So the elves destroyed Arlathan themselves, the Vallisin are slave markings, and spare mages get killed by this point I'm sure they are eaten or something.. Weirdos
Wow, I have no words for this.

I just found it a bit contrived personally. I would've thought the Dalish would've known they wore slave markings as obsessed with ancient lore as they are.

How? The point is that the Elves lost all cultural knowledge of Arlathan during their slavery in Tevinter. Then they found some old writings, or some equivalent, which specified how Vallisin was made but not their purpose, so the Dalish just speculated some (hilariously wrong) purpose.

It was an assumption. I'd assumed it was like how we know who is a pharoh and who are slaves by their dress and positions in ancient artwork. I thought that they'd catch on if all the people with vallisin were bowing and serving elves with no vallisin in mosaics and the like. But I suppose that was my failing, I assumed something about a fantasy race that someone else holds the power to rewrite at will.

Like really. I even said later some clans probably vary. Some might be more willing to have more than 3 mages a few might try to leave them near somewhere they know is safe, but chances are a lot of them kill them.
Freaking trying to call me a liar like I have nothing better to do than lie about a fictional damn race is stupid.
You apparently had nothing better to do since this is an elven support thread, although I see plenty of anti-elven people who refuse to allow anyone who likes the elves to talk in this thread. It's also not an issue of 'probably', since it can be explicitly pointed out by the Dalish protagonist that there are clans who let mages go with other clans (which is what Lavellan can say about his clan, and what Merrill's clan did as well), and Zathrian's clan ignored this to welcome Aneirin among them, and even teach him magic.

I know that gaider and other devs want to go north in thedas to tevinter and Rivain and the Qun. We might be able to visit the Arlathan forest if the game is set in Tevinter.

To be fair on the mage aspect, each clan is assumed different. It's not really fair to say all clans do it when we've already seen examples that each clan is different due to their prolonged distance from one another. There's probably one that has no Keeper at all, and one that keeps all mage children - just like there are ones that work with humans, some that are little better than bandits, and others that have disappeared into the forests entirely.

I have to admit, I felt pretty content about all the times I argued that we shouldn't have to have the Dalish Inquisitor wear Vallaslin now that we know what they mean. I was supporting the symbolic freeing of mages. ![]()
