The organization as a whole is still made up of devout andrastians, revered mothers, circle mages, former templars and seekers

Right, all demographics that can be more concisely summed up as "southern humans," i.e. the vast majority in Orlais and Ferelden.

Dalish, once again, are not all elves. Neither are the radicals. I'm actually pretty glad DA:I has elven Templars in it.

Not that the Dalish are all hostile/prejudiced across the board either.

It's still hard to paint the organization as a whole as non-andrastian. To my knowledge you can't go around giving the Dalish land, or improving the lot of the casteless. You focus on the displaced andrastians

To my knowledge, the Dalish aren't asking, and the Inquisition has no real pull belowground. Certainly, most members of the Inquisition are Andrastian, but so are most Thedosians, especially in the south.

Eh. DA2 made everyone act like idiots, Merrill was amazing, TME was stupid drek. Don't let it worm into your head.

I also don't think that DAI is Chantry-apologetic either; the Chantry seems to consist almost entirely of paranoid obstructionist louts, the Seekers are an evil ancient conspiracy, and Andraste's divine intervention turns out to be Corypheus' screwup.

Apologetic in the way they stick Cass, Leliana, and Giselle in your face who are very helpful and friendly. Compounded with Roderick's eventual turn around to show players that "they aren't all bad!"

I am more talking about the people and companions of Chantry origin than the squabbling politicians fighting over a false throne.

Which makes the Inquisition andrastian almost by default

Just bring Varric around with Cassandra in your party to have him hack away at any luster she might have. Also, Leliana has a fair few doubts about her faith by this point.

Solas, Cole, Iron Bull, Varric... are the non-Andrastians somehow inherently less sympathetic than the Andrastians? It doesn't seem so to me.

Varric is Andrastian, and Leliana says she was just under stress at the time. She's fine.

The stress was what led to her emotional outburst, not something that invalidates her doubts. Not that doubt is even unhealthy in faith.

She flat out says she doesn't really have doubts in the Maker or Andraste's plan for you. Did you even listen to her?

Yes, and I never recall her definitely saying that I was the Herald of Andraste. Especially after being proven not to be.

You were proven not have been given the Anchor by Andraste, doesn't disprove her being the one who led to you messing up Corypheus

Some of the best banter in the game along with "define 'calm', who is or what is she hitting?". Leliana has seen massive character development for sure.

They are not less sympathetic. But there's a big difference to how the Chantry's Leliana was portrayed in DA II and to some extent Cassandra as well. I was certain she was going to be hell but she's turned out to be quite reasonable and fair.

But you are playing a Dalish Elf in Inquisition.

The City Elves are better, but not by much.

City elves don't kill mages for not having anywhere to go,they don't cling to the past and pervert their own understanding of it,they don't have sticks so far up their own asses they use them as backbones

The city elves are far and away better than the Dalish

And? You said elves.

The City Elves are miles above the nobility that abandoned them.

City elves are roughly equivalent to lower-class Andrastian humans in terms of morality. If they don't do harm, it's because they lack power. Although they do practice forced marriage, or at the least very high-pressure arranged marriage.

Arranged marriages are not anywhere near on par with what the Dalish get up to. Summoning demons, killing innocent humans, killing extra mages...

You're right. I should remember that there are city elves among the ranks of Grey Wardens and Tevinter mages who do have power.

Arranged marriages are not anywhere near on par with what the Dalish get up to. Summoning demons, killing innocent humans, killing extra mages...

Again, city elves can't do any of that as a society. City elf mages get taken to the Circle (and of course after that, we get Huon), weapons are banned on pain of death, so killing innocent humans is a severe unlikelihood, and again, they can't determine the fate of their own mages (also, it only seems to be Minaeve's clan that's that harsh, as the Alerion, Sabrae and Lavellan clans all practice that mage-exchange thing, and Zathrian's clan had no evidence of it being otherwise, given that Lanaya never made it sound at all like her rivals in First testing might die).

City Elves would definitely do that if they had to the power to. The Dalish do it because they have to, but the City Elves would just do it because they're awful.

And when the worst thing about them you can say is "they are powerless and occasionally have arranged marriages" they don't come off looking all that bad in comparison

City elves don't even really have their own society; a true comparison would require Dalish society vs. Andrastian society.

. City Elves do very much have their own society. They have their own spins on andrastian customs such as marriage, they have an identity separate from humans, and they have their own leaders and figures of authority
