I had to revise my first character. I decided I'm going to play a "self-insert" mage elf. I think it's best (for me) to start a game with a self-insert. It's the most efficient way for me to explore all the options. Then later I will be better able to conceptualize which options best fit a specific character in mind.

The Eluvian was likely constructed in Act II, since we see Merrill looking at the shard she recently cleansed in Act I, right before she properly meets Hawke. As for the character, Merrill seemed to be more of an introvert and is dealing with culture shock in a society that's entirely foreign to her, but she does invoke quite a bit of dry humor:
Ilen: Ah, Merrill … you've returned. How has your time been amongst the shemlen?
Merrill: It's been nothing but roses and rainbows, Master Ilen. The Alienage is lovely in the spring. The collapsing shacks and drunken brutes are nicely offset by the knee-deep mud.
Do you have all of your stock responses in a word document somewhere? Because I've seen you post the Exact. Same. Thing. In a stupidly large number of threads.

You seem to do little besides try to goad people into arguments and make your disdain for the elves abundantly clear. It was tiresome months ago. If you're not interested in actually discussing the topic at hand, there's little reason for you to post in this thread.

But there's no point in discussing anything with you becasue you'll just copy paste the same argument from a thread ago or necro something months dead to get the last word.
Which is actually why I asked the question. I genuinely want to know if you have these things saved somewhere which seems smart given your post style or if you have to re-create them each time which seems like too much effort.

The character creator seems to be pretty extensive this time around. It's nice to have versatility in the creation of our characters. Have any of you decided on the vallaslin you'll choose with your elven Inquisitor? I've chosen the vallaslin of Elgar'nan, the God of Vengeance (the one that covers most of your face). The story about Elgar'nan and the Sun is pretty interesting.

This was done by Balicakes for Breakfast; you guys can go to the link and like the image (if you have a tumblr account) to show your appreciation if you like the work that was done.

Yep, definitely Elgar'nan for me as well, specially for my mage. Might do Andruil for rogue or warrior.

Is that possible? I didn't spend a lot of time on CC but pretty sure tattoos are unique for each race.

Yeah, tattoos are different depending on race. Unless someone figures out a way to mod it, no Carta tats on an elf

It wouldn't make any sense, particularly given the importance of the vallaslin for the Dalish.

Its June indeed
It's a shame that the developers never officially released which vallaslin in Inquisition correspond to which one of the Creators (since they seem to have augmented the designs somewhat from Origins and Dragon Age II); at least some fans did the hard work to give us some insight so we can make the right choice.

Going for a male elf rift mage on my first go. Most of my paythroughs are probably going to be with elves. I hope Velanna or Ariane make an appearace, but most likely that won't happen.

The list thingy made by Balicakes for Breakfast is correct but there are more variations for each god, the one jlb524 posted is a different variation of June. If you compare them to the list you posted you can easily recognize it. I'd suggest looking at them with short or a similar hair used in the list to not block the tattoo in order to avoid confusion.
But its indeed a shame, elven gods are interesting and need love and that includes Vallaslin.

I think Rift Mage might work for my elven Inquisitor as well; being a Necromancer wouldn't work given the Dalish prohibition against using magic that involves spirits (and I'm looking to play as an orthodox Dalish mage), and I don't think my character would be too interested in the teachings of the Circle to become Knight Enchanter.
As for Velanna and Ariane, it would be nice to see them again. Presuming that Velanna was welcomed into the order of Grey Wardens, she might have found her sister again (who might be shepherding the 'awakened' darkspawn if the Architect was killed), and Ariane could have Morrigan's "gift" if the Hero of Ferelden left with Morrigan through the Eluvian.

Hmmmm, I think my Tristan Lavellan will have Sylaise's vallasin. I plan on specializing him as a Necromancer/Inferno mage. I like the Inferno cause it's in keeping with the "Hearthkeeper". Also, cause he's gonna be my fiery light bringer to all of Thedas.

True, there have been more variants since Origins was released. Gay As A Blade did some work on correlating the vallaslin options to their respective gods in Inquisition:
