so its more of an annoyance cause x group likes to chill on legends and stew on rabbit rather than assimulate? InterestingThe Elven faith was persecuted in Thedas because the nations of Thedas and the Chantry felt it necessary to dismantle Dalish culture completely, lest they one day become a threat again. So the religion was outlawed. Simple as that.
On the BSN it isn't really villified (by most anyway), but rather Dalish culture as a whole is. Dalish culture is self-defeating, victim-mellowing and backwards moving, and if only the Dalish made active attempts to break free from this stupor, they would be far more agreeable and widely accepted. However the Dalish seem content in stewing in their own inadequacy, which infuriates a lot of people.

Then I'm fairly sure Dorian is wrong, or at best giving a Tevinter version.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Coryphyfish references Dumat's direction in DA2. Considering how very well established it is that the Old Gods were buried underground (and physically present on this side of the veil), there's not much sense in looking for Dumat in the Golden City. Not unless the old god bodies and the old god souls were somehow trapped on different sides of the Veil.
(Which is possible as a theory, I suppose, but doesn't seem to have much/any support in any of the religious lore or supporting ancient mythos that I can think of.
Well yeah, if they're dreaming, they'd be in the Fade. That is where the Magisters contact them after all.

id like to know both but which ever is shorter XD
In BSN's case, how do you persecute a group that doesn't exist?

And because they are almost universally racist (or at least xenophobic), borderline bandits, extremely arrogant, and endanger everyone around them with their mages, and poaching. The list is longer, but this should indicate to you the plethora of reasons to dislike the Dalish.

That's not what Dorian says. He specifically says they went there in search of the Old Gods. And Cory calls it the "Seat of the Gods." The lore has changed.
I think Dorian has it mixed up. Corypheus' codex entry says that the Old Gods sent the Seven Magisters (one priest per God) into the Fade so that one of them could take the Maker's seat.

But they wouldn't be in the Golden City- and certainly not physically. The whole point of the Magister trip was to physically breach the Golden City. They wouldn't have found the bodies of the Old Gods there, nor is there any real indication that Old God spirits were hiding there.

You'd notice then that Tevinter isn't particularly loved amongst the fans either. However, Tevinter do enjoy being a "safehaven" for mages, so they can attract a few of the mage fanboys at least.

Pretty much.
It also doesn't help that most of the Dalish we meet are self-righteous and arrogant, which puts off other people as well. Like Master Ilen in DA2 getting offended by Hawke offering to help drive off darkspawn from an area to gather ironbark because Ilen couldn't believe that a human would succeed where their hunters failed.
I don't have universal hate for the Dalish's culture or beliefs, but it can be a little grating sometimes when the character I'm roleplaying simply wants to help (whether to improve chances of them honoring the Grey Warden treaties or to get in good with Merril) and that particular clan isn't appreciative of my efforts.
By the same token, when I look at how elves are treated by and large, and how subservient humans expect them to be, I'm not too annoyed that the Dalish stand up for themselves and try to be independent of humans. They at least are far more independent than the dwarves of Orzammar who rely on the surface for their very survival through trade but tradition dictates that they ignore that fact.

I could worship nugs and call them the holiest of all creatures, impervious to all pain. That is invalid. The fact that the Dalish believe it is valid does not make it valid.

You're contradicting yourself heavily, and I don't understand this need to dogmatize and dichotomize on the one hand while equivocating on the other. But, whatever. That's actually is what a religion is.
No he didn't. First, the City is definitely real. Second, he said the seat of the gods was empty. He went there in search of the Old Gods. So back to what I already said.

I actually found it quite curious that everytime Corypheus mentioned the fade and the city in DA:I he called it the golden city. Never mentioning the black aspect.
Unlike in Legacy he cleary had his wits about him this time. There's sitll alot more for us to learn about the magisters trip into the fade.

Well to him the name is Golden City, he doesn't know that is now called black. So to him the Golden City is corrupted, and was corrupted when he entered, he just hasn't thought about changing the name. The same way that Groenlandia (using the spanish version, don't know the english one, sorry) meant Green Land, and while it's now mostly covered in snow nobody has changed the name.I actually found it quite curious that everytime Corypheus mentioned the fade and the city in DA:I he called it the golden city. Should have known. You english people always go for the obvious. Like the verb ring, because if it makes that noise might as well, right?
Note: I'm in my fourth year of english philology. I may make fun of the language but I love it. Just so you know there's no bad intentions

Here is an interesting thought expermint. If there was to be a new elven kingdom, lets say it arose around the Arlathan forest. I wonder what this new kingdom's culture would look like, including its religion.

It would be interesting, taking into account the ancient elves, who ARE immortal, that we meet in Inquisition.
The elves would have to learn so much about their old culture that is different from what they believe it was. Like Mithal being murdered and yet....not. And the Dread Wolf. Sort of. I'm being vague on purpose for those who haven't beaten Inquisition.

who ARE immortal
They aren't.
The elf himself explains the process vaguely.
They sleep and then awaken.
Its stasis best, not immortality.
