There is huge difference in a forced one though, like what happened to Elves. If Elves came as refugees to human lands willingly and adapted to their culture that would be a harmless assimilation. We know for a fact that it was forbidden for Elves to speak their language or continue their culture. So they had to do it and it was basically forced.

To those than want to support Briala and help out the city elves, the only way to do this is to put Gaspard on the throne. She uncovers dirt on him and uses it to extract a promise he will favor city elves during his reign.
So supporting Briala means killing Celene essentially

The elves look awesome this time around. Kind of a good mix of DAO and DA2, I think. Traditional looking, but yet with the right mix of weirdness and alien-ness from DA2.

 

I agree the elves look really good this time, pretty tall and slender.

That's why I'm actually glad this choice is bundled with Gaspard. At least he'll probably honor the terms. I'd be much less confident in Celene.

I wouldn't be that sure but yeah there is very little left of them that links them to their past and I didn't claim otherwise, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't have their own nation.

You should really read some forced assimilation screen plays or novels. Its not pretty.
 
Also this culture you speak of is too far fetched. Antiva's culture is already way too different, they are literally Andrastian because it brings profit. Then there is Tevinter, Rivain and Anderfels. Thedas can be united but not under same culture but with tolerance for other cultures.

One thing I found is how flexible and varied I could make them. I felt a little more stuck with human male.. my human character isn't that different from the default. Just tweaked a bit. He looks great, but for some reason, I can go wild with the elves and still be happy.

 

They do look quite unique. During the trial I had so much fun tweaking my elven characters, I loved how striking they looked compared to the humans
