I'll probably make the face and then try both voices on it for size and pick the one that I think fits best. I'm guessing I'll lean Sumalee for more combat-oriented types and might trend Alix for mages and elves.

My first playthrough will be a Male Elf and will have the English voice, and then my Male Qunari will have the American voice.

I'm still not entirely sure for the female voices, I have only played a Qunari and Dwarf playthrough. Ideally I would prefer the English voice for both of them (not a huge fan of the American voice) but in terms of lore its pretty much set that all Dwarves have American accents. I'm gonna give the Qunari the English voice though (like in the E3 demo), although it doesn't fit lore to our knowledge of Qunari, I will just headcanon she was brought up in a place where the people had English accents (so maybe among humans in Ferelden or something).

Heh, i'll always associate Alix with Goal from Deponia rather than Traynor, might have to make a female Pc at some point as her work is alway great.

British male first, but the others are all good as well. I was impressed with American.. it wasn't quite as typically American as I thought it'd be. It still feels... like it fits in fantasy somehow.

If I decide I want Jon Curry for my human rogue, it'll be tough to head-canon that he grew up in Orzammar or Par Vollen. Maybe he comes from wherever Wynne came from. She was American... maybe he's her illegitimate son... hmmm maybe I'll make him a mage then. I dunno

ETA: I didn't actually know this when writing but apparently Wynne actually does have an illegitimate son according to this: http://dragonage.wik...ynne#Background

Starting to like this idea more and more!

More than likely he'll be in this game. He's a major character in Asunder. I don't know if he'll sound like Wynne though.. he barely knew her.

usually my first playthrough is a male mage and then a female rouge but this time, i am going with a female mage first because I love Traynor in ME and was disappointed i couldnt date her as a male Shepard.

Everyone. I plan on playing a human male first, then qunari male, elf female, and dwarf female after that (and however long that all takes me). So, I'm just going to stay canon compliant so I can hear them all.

Lol so much for that idea! If you hadn't said anything I coulda been rolling like I was Wynne's son and suddenly come across him in game and suddenly I'm evil twin/imposter guy. I should read the books really. I feel like a lore dunce... or a fair-weather fan.

Alix killed it! I mean absolutely killed it! I thought the American voice was going to be really bad & immersion breaking but I was so wrong, so very wrong. He sounds like he has more bass in his voice than I do lol. I'm using the American voice obviously.

Apparently so is Gordon Hayward. Seriously, what does this mean?

Is it like saying "He's the t*ts, the dog's b*llocks... he's... the goat" ?

English accents suit humans and elves.

Don't see why that would be, but I guess English and Welsh accents just don't sound alike to me. The elves in DAO had American accents, for the most part. Either works in my book. The Dalish in particular travel a lot, and travel changes one's accent. Whether we meet our Dalish compatriots will matter somewhat to me, but even if they were all British-accented, being the Keeper's apprentice, maybe my character was the one that dealt with those outside the clan and thus came to sound different.

You don't notice it, but my 6 years in Belgium apparently changed my accent. I sound a bit like a foreigner to my countrymen now, despite speaking a lot of English and talking with my parents a lot during those years.

Regardless, I plan to go with Sumalee Montano first. She sounded like so much fun in the Iron Bull romance vid I watched.

My humans will have British accents. The rest, likely not, unless I grow very fond of one or both Brits to the exclusion of all else. I like all the voices so far, though. I love that we have a choice, that makes it feel like a true blockbuster title, but even if we didn't I think I would be all right.

I've never seen the acronym used outside a sports context. Basketball players and such. "Greatest Of All Time."

Not sure it applies here.

The only elf I can think of with an English accent is Sera... but I'm probably not trying very hard. Where are you from that Belgium changed your accent?

Explains why I've never heard it before. I'd better not start using it. Don't think I could pull it off.

Good idea. I don't even hear it from sports fans much (including myself). Goat is like a special word. Like Muhammad Ali is the GOAT. Michael Jordan is the GOAT. etc.. Not everyone can be the GOAT. :D

Shakira sings like a GOAT. Sarah Jessica Parker looks like a GOAT.

Sorry I think my gay is showing

The United States, somewhere in between New York and DC. Interestingly, there's another person named Wynne living very nearby. She's much closer to DA Wynne's age than I am, though.

I don't even hear a difference, not even when I compare them with the fan voice project I did some years before I left. I just sound more mature, not different, at least to myself.

Alix Wilton Regan FTW.  I loved her as Traynor in ME3 and was sad to see her go in Dragon Age: Awakening (as Mhairi.) I didn't feel anything for her character in Dragon Age: Origins (Ser Cauthrien) as she really didn't have a big impact in the game, but am excited for her to be my 1st Inquisitor.  I'll probably end up using all of the voices, but I expect hers to be my favorite.

Didn't she also play the noble in DAA who ended up getting murdered and Lilley, the Coterie woman in DA2 who also ends up getting killed? That's at least three DA characters she's played who have bitten it.
