Last I heard the game will unlock in about 23 hours in Asia, in South Korea to be exact.

With a vpn you can unlock at 7am pst. And yeah changing your pc date and clock won't have any effect.

These kinds of topics really ****** me off. Please stop spreading misinformation and getting peoples´ hopes up for no reason.

 

They game will be released in Asia (except Japan) at 7am PST(!) on the 17th. For me, living in Thailand, this means that the game will unlock at 10pm local time on the 17th, plus/minus an hour or two for the other countries in the region depending on their time zone.

 

Edit: Which means that the game will unlock in approximately 23 hours, not 4 or 5 hours.

The unlock isn't 7am in South Korea, that's the South Korean unlock time converted to PST.

 

Put it another way -  the unlock is 3pm by GMT/UTC, whatever time that is for you in the world, at that time.

 

Or another way - it unlocks in 22.5 hours.

I think the biggest confusion here is over what time the game actually unlocks, this thread has a lot of different versions.

I'm assuming if you VPN to Korea, the unlock time shown is local because thats where Origin thinks you are. I get unlocks shown in GMT because I'm in England. I don't see why if you VPN'd to Korea it would show you the unlock time for an American timezone.

Or am I confusing things further?

The unlock time it the South Korean time, but that time converted to whatever time zone your PC is set to.

There is nothing to be confused about, this is the release schedule:

 

• Asia-Pacific (except Japan) – 11/17 7AM PST
• North America and Brazil – 11/17 9PM PST
• Russia – 11/17 11 PM PST
• Australia – 11/19 5AM PST
• Japan – 11/19 7AM PST
• Europe excluding UK, IE, PT – 11/19 3PM PST
• New Zealand – 11/20 3AM PST
• India – 11/20 10:30AM PST
• South Africa – 11/20 2PM PST
• United Kingdom, Ireland, Portugal – 11/20 4PM PST

There's a timer when you log onto Origins... 1 day, 12 hours, 8 minutes, 3 sec...

That depends how you bought it. If you bought it through Origin and have preloaded, the suggestion on this forum (and from Customer Support) is that they have no issue with you using a VPN to Korea to unlock it early. The aside is that if something goes wrong (I can't imagine what could) they won't offer support.

 

If you bought it somewhere without preload (say Amazon digital download), they will only send you the download and code at whatever time they're allowed to for your area, so you can't play early.

 

It's basically a hiccup of the preloading system.

If you log into Origin with a South Korean VPN this is what it says: 

 

 

The unlock times shown are of your local time for some reason, which would explain the confusion.

 

The game unlocks on the 17th of November at 16:00 (4 p.m.) CET, which is in exactly 22 hours and 6 minutes. The South Korean Origin page also has a countdown timer which says the same.
