But once again my issue is more with them being boring and not very good at drawing in the crowd,

What is the "drawing in the crowd" issue about? Do you feel a lack of desire to play other classes just because of the ability point? What crowd?

Yes, human will likely be the most popular class (would be anyway) for whatever reason. But people will still play all 4 classes, and I don't think BW will take classes "out" again like they did in DA2 (they learned that lesson), as long as this game does well.

What exactly is the worry?

The worry is that if they prove to not be a worth while feature, which they were pretty much a waste of time from a purely objective POV for Origins that they will be removed again,

And in this game it's even worse then Origins, since they have the most broadly appealing Bonus and two fairly different backgrounds, they are stacking the deck in favor of the guy who can already count cards as it were,

It would be very hard to justify putting in more races if they were even less played this time, And i won't ask BW to throw away money on an inefficient feature, that serves little purpose, After all as long as you can change ethnicity and gender you only really need humans,

I think as long as sales are good enough to justify development time we will not see "only humans" in a full game again (maybe a DLC, if it is about a specific character or something). I think they will stick with racial choice because even if people pick human, it feels different to them to get to have the choice, and BioWare has seen that now with all the fuss about it in DA2 and all the praise and excitement for it this time (reviewers liked it).

Race bonuses are boring, but it doesnt matter much for me. Id play human anyways.

What Id really like to see is one unique passive ability (noone else can get it) for EACH companion that they get automatically and are very characteristic for them.

Isn't it always like this? Don't games always encourage certain races to go with certain classes? I actually think the bonus were very discreet, as to not severely gimp the players who make more subjective adn aesthetic choices.

The issue here is that One Race receives a more enticing bonus that is useful for everyone, While the others have more linear and boring bonuses,
