I left Lothering, heading directly to Denerim. Here I encountered a quest to deal with Ser Landry, and another with the White Falcons at the Pearl.
How exactly do I stand up to Loghain this early?

Where did you meet Loghain exactly? Those two that you mentioned will be fairly simple to accomplish.
You don't confront Loghain this early. These quests aren't tied to confronting Loghain, though Gorim's dialogue leads me to believe that you're expected to do them around the same time.
There are several side quests (like the ones you mention) in Denerim that you can do early on. You can only deal with Loghain after you have done all the treaty quests.
I wasn't implying the aforementioned quests were related to Loghain; I just wanted to mention my progress in Denerim in case it was helpful to my question.
But my question has been answered: I cannot face Loghain until I have done all treaty quests. I was under the impression that I could go ahead and confront him, especially after Morrigan suggested such action.
Thank you.

I think the initial plan was to allow you to do this.

It was. Loghain would've been taken out of the equation early and potentially join the party, where you could even take him to the Circle Tower and he would have a Fade nightmare of how he failed Cailan.
