Exactly thisI think people overrate KE compared to other classes and specialisations. We've seen a lot of trash mob killing but trash mobs are likely easily to faceroll with any class that fits your play style.

Pre-release: ''OMG Bioware has gutted the mages, they are useless now''
Right before release:: ''OMG after one gameplay video, KE needs a nerf!!''
Come on, people.

I wanna be nerfed hard.
As much as I want to, I'd better not link the classic GIF.
Must.
Resist.
I'll use something safe, instead:

I think the real question is whether Bioware will release a patch to completely remove Necromancer.
I mean, really, who would want to play as an icky corpse-manipulating pervert? Best to just chop it out altogether, I say!

Show me a video of a KE face rolling a dragon on nightmare alone without breaking a sweat then I'll hop on the nerf bandwagon. Honestly as long as they don't end up as better tanks than warriors I don't care if they are OP.
And, lacking taunt, they probably won't be. The goal of tanking, after all, is to draw enemy attention away from DPS party members. Super-duper defensive abilities are wasted if you can't catch the baddies' attention.
Without taunt, you need to unload lots of damage to do that... which means replacing some of those defensive abilities with damaging ones.

I fail to see the logic in nerfing a class in a single player game, especially since the only MP mode available is strictly cooperative. If you think KE is too OP then don't play KE in your single player game. IMHO, I think it is good that there is some sort of a Fighter / Mage class. However if you are going to play DAMP you will probably want to have a strong character is your group, even if you won't play that character or even if the character may actually be a bit OP. The Devs have stated that DAMP is easier with a mixed / balanced group, so it is very unlikely you will find a group of 4 players who are all KE or even 4 players who are Mages. Granted if after the game is released it becomes abundantly clear that KE is actually more than just a "bit" OP, then a nerf might be in order. Unless / until that happens, however, KE should be left alone.

If it was competitive pvp I'd say nerf something, but it's not. It's single player and basically horde mode dungeon crawl MP. Who cares if a KE can kill 2 things instead of one.

Nothing wrong with a few things being over powered in a single player game. DA:O and DA2 both had Mage builds that could solo anything in the game that wasn't especially designed to require another character. That was never a problem. In fact it was sort of fun figuring out the particular mish mash of abilities and stat point distributions to achieve the results required to make those solo builds work.
It's not something you do on your first play through, but it's something fun to try out on your 'whatever numbereth' time through.

Asking for nerfs in a single player that is not even out yet, oh lulz.
all we want is a balanced game. :C

I wish more people would actually realize this as well. All I keep hearing & seeing is "they generate barrier per hit." That is nice & all but they need proper aggro management. I don't want to see arcane warrior 2.0. That just sounds annoying & would ruin part of the game for me.

I've seen gameplay videos (no spoilers thank goodness!) and they are mindlessly broken.
Like literally they are the apex of no-counterplay and being gamebreaking. Anything below nightmare is trivialized.
It would be a good idea to actually play the released game before you whine about broken/over powered classes.
Jesus...

Maybe in multiplayer, but you are never going to see a nerf in single player. In fact, has that ever happened before? Has any devs ever nerfed a single player games content?
Post-release and without making a new game? Uuuuhh...
In Diablo III, Blizzard changed how "increases attack speed" enchants work.
And in Minecraft, Mojang changed enchanting to require Lapis Lazuli (a fairly common and fairly useless (but pretty) material by the time you can afford to make an enchanting table).
That's all I got.

Ovepowered, you say?
Well, I guess my mage's class has been decided - I was juggling between Necromancer and KE anyway. Thanks, OP.

2) Knight Enchanter drastically changes the way you play as a mage.
I'm not really sure of the differences, does this mean you can not play as KE pew-pew mage? or it's just less efficent?
The one gif i saw seemed to be a bit like a ME3 Vanguard (which i loved playing), which are high risk/reward.

But agree on the "play it before calling for nerfs". Also it's not like Bioware nerfed ME1's single player adepts, which had totally OP biotics, so meh lets just wait and see...
