1.05: Will Dragon Age have a multi-player component?

Dragon Age will have a fully developed multi-player campaign that follows the same core story as the single-player campaign, but which is optimized for cooperative play. Some competitive play modes will also be available. More information on multiplayer will be made available later in the development cycle.

 

It may as well be the description for DA:I's multiplayer component, except this was written over a DECADE ago. How cool is that?! All this nostalgia is making me want to play some Baldur's Gate while I wait for DA:I.

I totally remember those screenshots! I bought a Baldur's Gate / rpg special magazine at K-Mart with my mom, and they had an article about that in there, and I was SOOO excited but then forgot about it. I was probably...14? 15?

 

I'm not 24, and, though I recently moved back IN with my mom (oh college loans...), I now buy my own magazines.

I remember vaguely seeing this game in person at the E3 show. Admittedly, the big draw for me was the KH2 promo from Square, though I also remember playing a lot of Dynasty Warriors 4 Empires, which I had almost to myself.

I still remember when I first saw those. I think that was the first game I ever actually started checking the net obsessively every hour or so looking for any new detail on.

Well DA:I playable Qunari were. technically, revealed as playable at a . . . much later date.

That was the qunari. They had tails around that point in time.

It was better for not having it.  I don't know if you played Baldur's Gate or NWN multiplayer, but it wasn't fun.  At least not for me.  I love those games for their single player story.  The multiplayer was just... awful.  As soon as you introduce multiplayer, you get all the "LAWL OMG BBQPWNED HIM ROFLCOPTERPANCAKES" that comes with it.  I don't pay to take part in an epic story to have my money support wasted effort in that garbage.

I remember reading about how they were developing a NWN MMO some years back, but then it just vanished... But seeing as a different company than BW made NWN 2, I doubt there's much hope of a BW made NWN 3...

The other playable races will be revealed for Dragon Age: Origins - Centennial Edition, in 2109.

Fun fact: I first got into Dragon Age because of the little flash game that eventually became Dragon Age Legends. Here's the Jayisgames review:

At the time, I had been playing the crap out of Diablo II and had no idea that there could be games with meaningful choices, well-written dialogue and decent voice acting. Don't get me wrong, I love the **** out of the Diablo series, but, uh, it's not known for interesting stories or characters (love your work Gheed!). So DA:O absolutely blew me away. 

 

It blew me away even more when I fiddled with the settings to change them from low to high!

The LAN parties me and my friends would have with Baldurs Gate 1 and 2 had none of that! We played Coop and it was the same experience as Single player for us except there was always one loot hoarder who would be constantly wanting to sell cause his packs were full lol.

Though it has no relation to the "Nights" part it's just Neverwinter.
