No. He fought for their freedom.

Fenris tells Anders in a banter some mages are slaves. Being a mage doesn't mean you're immune to being someone's slave.

  • Anders: So, there must be mages in Tevinter that don't use blood magic.
  • Fenris: Of course. There are slaves. The magisters do not hesitate to collar their own kind.
  • Anders: But no magisters?
  • Fenris: Why must you go on about this? No magister would turn down an advantage over his rivals. If he did, he'd be dead.
  • Anders: You know, to use blood magic you must look a demon in the eye and accept his offer.
  • Anders: I just figured some of them would say no. For aesthetic reasons, if nothing else.

Ah, I didn't know about that dialogue. Thanks for sharing it.

XD yeah you'd have to have Anders and Fenris in the party and I blame no one for not hearing it. God those two are annoying together.

True enough.

Always got along with Fenris though, he hated Anders almost as much as I did.

Anders is more bearable on rivalry to me. It's like watching a trainwreck.

Friendship he's just bleh.

tbh - siding w/ Tevinter - a relatively mage friendly major world power - for protection is far more reasonable than siding w/ the Elder One for... reasons. It might turn out to be the same thing in the end but the motives are way different - and Fiona may not have known what Alexius is about when she made the deal. The same cannot be said for the Lord Seeker.

I don't think things are as they appear anyway -

George Lucas used to be an OK writer, but never great. I dislike immensely the new trilogy, but I can see the positive in that it links to the extended SW universe, which is not as poorly written as the movies. Anyway off topic.

In regard to Fiona's presence - it's all too coincidental, what happens to her that is, and that is poor writing - coincidence might be convenient (and well done) but in this case, for a number of people it breaks suspension of disbelief.

So... I have even more reason to dislike Fiona now? (Tevinter, really?)

I'd like to say this made it easier to decide who to side with, but the Lord Seeker seems like an ass and I'm not sure I'm willing to abandon all Mages to the mess Fiona's gotten them into.

yeah, I'll just ignore he pointless chit chat over whether or not Fiona is a poorly written character.

It's not surprising to see that Alistair finally meets his mother only to banish her from Ferelden. Do they even discuss their possible relationship?

How can Fionia be a Mary Sue? She's lead a brutal hard life that has ended up anything but peachy. And shes hardly the most powerful mage.

If anyones a Mary Sue its the Warden. How exactly did we stop a blight in about a year when most take decades to beat if not more?

You know maybe it's because knowledge and technology, i mean after 400 years... maybe during the time of Gharael they were  more primitive and weak in thedas, The next blight  will be stopped in 1 week. Beside Urthemiel is stupid compared to his brothers..

I wanna know this as well.

I hoped he'd punch her in the face for abandoning him.

But a Reason You Suck speech would be enough to appease me.

Well my choice is still to side with the mages for my Main story.

It is not Fiona I support but the ideal that the Circle does need to change and I rather not condemn all the remaining sane mages just because of Fiona.

However, I never agreed to how both Mages and Templars handled the situation.

I disliked both of them. it was like watching 2 emo kids trying to outdo themselves in the emo department.

OOOhh i was a slave and now i cannot trust anybody. FEEL my wangst !

OOOOh i was a prisoner in the circle and all alone and my soul is all thorn up inside!

It was rather revolting to watch actually.

But Fiona sounds a whole lot more reasonable then the templars are now doing. yeah sure tevinters are scumbags and she is desperate. But templars say **** THEDAS let us be big and bad and raise hell on thedas and sniff red lyrium. Both where predictable and i find it amusing that the templar supporters dont find it predictable . You have a bunch of crackheads on the lose people and you didnt see this coming? talk about poor people skills.

Well if all of you don't want to side with Mages because of Fiona what if you also gain 2 special people for siding with mages...

Spoiler

Though I'm not certain if this is Mage Side exclusive or not but I'm guessing they only join on Mage side because they were last seen being members of the Rebel Mages after Asunder.

Can;t imagine you get this option if you side with the templars.

What an idiot though. SHE COULD HAVE  GONE TO THE DAMN CONCLAVE and then she wouldn't have had to turn to Tevinter in the first place!!!!

Foolish woman. Tevinter will eat them all for breakfast.

If she'd gone to the Conclave - she'd be dead now. So not dumb at all in retrospect at least. And if the mages that went had been able reach a favorable a compromise, she likely would have preferred it to plan C tevinter servitude. Also, all mages being present at the conclave could have trapped them and killed the rebellion if things didn't work out well. Waiting to see what happened from afar sounds reasonable enough to me.

From what I've seen, the multiple ways to end the war only applies if you side with the mages.

Dude Alistar looks bad in that picture. There will be alot of mad people if he looks like that. Maybe that's his angry face.

Yeah... he doesn't look that great.  Though, to be fair, he looks a lot better than this:

No. She dies for all the misery, all the chaos she has helped cause.

Just reading the end if Asunder again and:

1. She doesn't make the decision for independence, there is a vote.

2. If they voted to return to the circles large numbers would have been made tranquil or killed as Lambert had already shown himself to be an extremist who would ignore Justinia.

3. When Lambert disrupted the conclave at first it led to the templars killing many mages so what would happen if they submitted.
