anyone mind telling me how Fiona is still alive, why does she believe she'll never have to go through the joining?
Er because she's already been through it and had the taint cured by The Architect.

From what I've seen, the multiple ways to end the war only applies if you side with the mages.

How can you keep the circle system as it was if the Templars all go nuts?
and by abolishing the system entirely does that mean like.. living as regular citizens?
and does independent mean no templars and they rule themselves inside the circles?
Shes not really the authors pet either. She play a major part in one book and then came back for a supporting role in another book. Sure she had a major impact on the story but she wasn't shown that much in Asunder. She hasn't been feature enough to be called an Authors pet.
She is the only person in thedas to be cured of the taint, she was cured because reasons..... Thats enough indication right there
How has a mod not warned people to go back on topic? I'm fairly certain this was supposed to be about Alistair meeting his mom in game, not a giant argument over nothing,
ON Topic, I wonder if Alistar will show differences between World States where he is and is not hardened, When dealing with her, since there isn't a direct option for it, but some states would require it,
Just found out something new if you side with the mages

Someone had previously posted that if you side with one side you are still able to keep the moderates of the other side? Anyone know if that is accurate?

No not really, she was cured to add more to the mystery surrounding the nature of the taint and darkspawn etc. As others have noted she is something of a poorly written, contrived character but thats it. And its no reason for the unreasoning hate that is getting thrown her way. Leliana is more of an authors pet.

My disdain for her comes from the end of Asunder. She had the support of the Divine, but still had to do things her own way.

...Not really, the way she was cured in no way added to the mystery. Just, somehow she was carrying a stone that accelerated her taint, then she stopped carrying it, then somehow she was cured, it was really arbitrary.

No she didn't the mages voted for independence. All she did was raise the issue for vote. And it became the only course of action after Lambert started slaughtering them.

So what was Gaider's reason for doing it then?
No idea, perhaps simply so that she'd still be around twenty years later and they could include her in the gamesSo what was Gaider's reason for doing it then?
She raised the issue after it had already been voted down in the previous gathering when the current meeting was expressly intended to address another issue entirely. No she didn't the mages voted for independence. I have no idea myself, though I hope so.Someone had previously posted that if you side with one side you are still able to keep the moderates of the other side? Anyone know if that is accurate?

But the situation had changed. And she's still not the one making the decision, the conclave is so why she gets personally blamed for it............

...If the things you've been saying are true then the mages will have my support.. But I would appreciate confirmation on these claims =)

OMG YAY.
I can side with the mages on my males with no regrets now.

At that stage I'm not even certain if they had decided that she was definitely Alistairs mother, so I think my explanation was the reason, it was just poorly done. The Calling is clearly the worst of the books.

YES YES YES THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY
Good to see Anora and Alistair being good rulers.
Seriously, there is nothing said about the fact that Fiona is Alistair's mother in the game at all?

The reasoning is pretty clear, she pushed the mages for war and made no plans for said war ensuring it would be a slaughter. And the reasoning for her being cured is stupid, makes no sense and is purely because she is A Mary Sue writers pet. Doubtless you'll disagree, and then i'll refute by saying something like your letting your admiriation for her character cloud your judgement.

And when there was no clear majority she accepted the vote anyway like an idiot

The situation had changed, that's why they were allowed to meet for the purpose of discussing the cure for tranquility. She's blamed because Justinia was very willing to work with the Mages, and she completely ignored that in favor of raising a different issue she had to have known would only inflame the templars and the chantry: full independence. But the situation had changed. It is, but I think her being Alistair's mother was pretty much decided.
