The reasoning is pretty clear, she pushed the mages for war and made no plans for said war ensuring it would be a slaughter.

And the reasoning for her being cured is stupid, makes no sense and is purely because she is A Mary Sue writers pet. Doubtless you'll disagree, and then i'll refute by saying something like your letting your admiriation for her character cloud your judgement.

And when there was no clear majority she accepted the vote anyway like an idiot

1. I have no admiration for the character, she is a poorly written contrived character who is not even all that likeable, this is why she isn't a mary sue. Besides her treatment in DAI is also clearly not that of a Mary Sue with the impact of her decisions coming back to bite her.

2. At the conclave where the vote was made it was a majority vote, Rhys as representative of his faction had the deciding vote.

3. At the first meeting of the conclave Justinia was still in charge and it was not clear how the templars would react.

4. Later when the vote was taken if the mages at the conclave handed themselves in to Lambert it was crystal clear that large numbers would be killed or made tranquil, so there was essentially no choice.

Seriously, there is nothing said about the fact that Fiona is Alistair's mother in the game at all?

Well, chances are that Fiona will be somewhere in Haven after the Mages join either as allies or conscripts, so maybe she brings it up in conversation.

Gaider did say that the Alistair/Fiona thing would be addressed in DAI.

I hope so at least.  Wonder if that's something that will come up if Alistair is a Warden, Drunk or Dead as well?  I have a few world states where he is a Warden and not king.  Can't bring myself to execute him.

I read the Calling and Asunder expecting Fiona being a bad character...instead she was ok. Don't get the hate, if not for some kind of "jelousy" because she endend up cured of the taint (I think it is still a mistery because there is a reason) and had a child and the female wardens didn't.

mah. People is strange. She have plenty of defect, she is not mary sue as Tallis. She is not well-liked by every character in the books, nor she try to be (like Tallis does in every moment of the DLC), she isn't presented as the most powerful mage around, (like Tallis is presented as the best rogue/quanri spy evvvver) nor she is infallible. She is a capable mage, but she is not the best by a long shot.

I'd like to see how can go an encounter between a Warden Alistair and her, and how the subject of her maternity will came out.

I saw a stream that what set in Skyhold where Fiona was hanging out a floor below Leliana in the rookery tower.

I don't have any adoration for Fiona, I just think people are getting the wrong idea about what a Mary Sue is. She seems to be disliked and reprimanded by many characters, and have poor decision making skills. Being cured of the taint is pretty strange, but I don't think it's really enough to elevate her to Mary Sue status. Maybe my opinion will change once I play the game though. So far she isn't looking 'perfect in every way', 'loved by all' and 'can do no wrong', though. Actually quite the opposite.

I suppose she isn't a Mary Sue. The only thing that really lends itself to that is her arbitrary being cured of the Taint. Beyond that... She just isn't a very well written character.

That I can agree on. Or maybe written to be particularly flawed.

Yeah, I'd say those things both qualify as poor writing, though I can see how they can be applied to the MS trope.

True, but I wish Bioware would stop doing certain things

I see that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Both mother and son are too impulsive and childish.

I thought Alistair said his mother died when he was young and that she was a servant not a mage or grey warden. Isn't that how he ended up with Eamen?

That was all a lie. It was confirmed that the child Fiona had at the end of The Calling was Alistair. She said she wanted her son to believe that his mother was a human who died so he wouldn't have to suffer begin elf-blooded and avoiding politics. Hence, he was taken away and raised by Eamon

This was retconned in the book The Calling.

Nope don't do it. The sue powers will activate and she'll reverse it somehow.

Like I said. Chop off head, burn body, ashes to four corners of Thedas. Only way to be sure.

"Cough"Andraste...

Humour aside. I'm rather impressed with all the options we have to alter the world this time.
