Okay, who paged the damn lore police?
(Personally I don't really give a crap one way or the other about Fiona, but is such vitriol really necessary?)

Hell did we ever get Shep's resurrection actually explained other than "lol expensive tech!"
Space magic duh

When the character twists priorly established lore into an unrecognizable heap, then it will start to ****** off inevitably.
Why does she get to say "lolnope" to the Calling?

For them it is because they don't want any Special characters stealing the spot light of any Main Characters for the game.
For me it doesn't matter since each character have their own life and twist for their life even if they never asked for it. Fiona never asked to have that life in DA lore but the creator of the DA Books felt that she should have that life.
Also...SPOILER Warning.
I think Finoa would benefit from a bit more grey here idk. She looks incredibly young for someone who's got to be at least around... 50? 60? There's no explicit canon age I can find for her. (
nevermind i forgot she's apparently cured from the Blight)
Spoiler
It's entirely possible she's tapping that old elven longevity?

no, since it doesn't exist
no, since it doesn't exist
How so?

Didn't Avernus also "lolnope", as you so put it, his Calling as well? With copious amounts of blood magic, iirc, but he still delayed it long enough to bear a remarkable resemblance to a raisin in a robe when flashbacks show him as a young(er) man.
I don't really give two shits about the lore, personally. Break it, bend it, or follow it to the letter - I just don't care.
Well, there is a difference between the lore police watching a half-elf take the throne, and watching the half-elf son of the only gray warden to survive the taint, become a first enchanter and lead the mages take the throne. That's a bit much. That must be unobtainium plot armor on that one.
It also helps that you can really screw Alistair over. He's special yeah but he can definitely be brought down low.

Daaaaaaammnnnnn, someone's bitter... ![]()
How so?
A. its just a legend amongst the Dalish that they were immortal
B. Devs have confirmed all races have similar longevity, with the exception of qunari because of their medicine and such
Yeah, Cassandra is in her mid-late 30's, while Fiona should, at the very least, be in her mid-late 40's (but probably should be older).
Didn't the elves live for thousands of years until the Quickening? Perhaps elves still live longer than humans by a hundred or so years?

The explanation was there, blood magic
If Fiona was using blood magic she wouldn't have been allowed within 100 yards of a Circle
the lore is the lore, it shouldn't be ebnt and broken just because the writers can't come up with a way to use it as is

Course not they're just trolling. Its like the personal hate for Hawke, they project their dislike for how things were done onto the fictional characters.

Avernus isn't free from the taint. He's merely delayed it.
A very long time yes. But it's a mere delay. It is catching up to him. http://dragonage.wik...Avernus's_Notes
The taint allows us to sense the darkspawn. The longer we survive with the taint in our blood, the more potent it becomes. Unfortunately, this corruption will eventually overwhelm the Warden; over time, it devours both mind and body, leaving nothing. But what if the spread of the corruption could be stopped, or contained in some way? What if the Warden could become more powerful, without having that power kill him? How great would that power be? Would it be enough to stop the demons?
The Joining ritual is crude. We take into ourself the blood of the darkspawn in the most obvious way. Most die from the corruption immediately; it is, after all, poison. There must be some way to refine the Joining. Isolate the true power that is found in darkspawn blood, and leave behind the evil that kills us.
I can feel the corruption starting to take its toll on my body. I must not succumb. There is too much work to be done. Through my magic I've been able to slow its inevitable spread, but not stop it completely. I am starting to hear things, even while awake: A voice--more beautiful than any other--that calls to me from the depths. In my dreams, I see the Black City, and I am drawn towards it. There is something there, an answer to what this taint is, this taint that we share with the darkspawn...

Didn't the elves live for thousands of years until the Quickening? Perhaps elves still live longer than humans by a hundred or so years?
no, there are only legends about it, and devs have said all races live similar lifespans
and even in ancient Arlathan, only dreamers were able to live that long because they were actually in the fade

Yes, because there has never been a blood mage in the Circles. ![]()

hm? No I'm not. It's merely the truth. He can be brought down low.
Yes, because there has never been a blood mage in the Circles.
I'd think that given how "oppressive" the templars are they'd at least check a mage who just arrived for scarring
the lore is the lore, it shouldn't be ebnt and broken just because the writers can't come up with a way to use it as is
I don't see that this is being done given that IIRC The Calling came out before DAO was released (or at least quite soon after) and I highly doubt they knew what was going to happen to Fiona at that point.
Didn't the elves live for thousands of years until the Quickening? Perhaps elves still live longer than humans by a hundred or so years?
The immortality of the ancient elves was mentioned in "The Masked Empire". There's also debate over the longevity of the Dalish due to conflicting information from the developers; Gaider said the Dalish seem to live longer the more generations they live away from humans, while Kirby said everyone lived the same.

Fair enough, but what about the more recent books like Asunder?
The blood line of Ferelden Kings is very powerful. And has a huge deal in the "lore" of the game. Play the game or be the game, if you dont know the lore GL HF, as for me and my house.. we shall read read read and be more than content that DAI is showing lots of Cameo's from said "lore"
Actually reading those notes...
