Multiplayer looks sweet and all, but fighting monsters becomes boring after a while. PvP is a whole different story.

I know, DAI isnt balanced for this. But its not that we going to take it to cybersport or something. SImple PvP arenas like in World of Warcraft with 2v2, 3v3 or 4v4 matches would work and I see alot of potential here.

Just imagine. Huge gladiator arena. Two teams coming to fight each other. And to spice it many different events can appear during the fight, like wild beasts coming and attacking everyone or fire burns proving ground at random. Also the best gladiators and teams could appear on top of ladder, so hardcore players will have something to thrive for.

Not unless Bioware can balance PVP without impacting Single Player and MP Cooperative.  To see how NOT to do this, one only needs to look at Destiny.

I'd only like it if there's an actual worthy story element to it and why it exists. I don't want it in just because. Like, why would the Inquisition be involved in arena fights? I can understand battlefield skirmishes maybe related to some political element to the story, but arenas? No.

Why no? It wont affect in any way how you play the game. Just an additional game mode. You dont like PvP - just dont join it.

Lore wise, I see more sence in Inquisitor honing skills at proving grounds then collecting mushrooms and butterflies for some random peasants

It can affect things if they don't segregate class and gameplay patches between single and multiplayer. No one wants their single player character nerfed because some people whined in some unrelated PvP battle.

oh it doesn't? I've played enough MMOs to see how the PvP cries affect PvE, specially the classes (I still remember the "OMG plz nerf operative/scoundrel healz!!!!!11oneoneeleven" on swtor).

So no.

Bioware will never sacrifice something in singleplayer for PvP sake. Singleplayer is much more important for them.

At best I see that they could change mechanics of some abilities that only have those tweaks in PvP. Like taunt working on players and lowering dmg of target to anyone other then tank.

From reading all the classes abilities, I must say, they all can be useful in PvP - they did nice job balancing them as is. The biggest problem in PvP will be durations of crowd control which should be nerfed (only on multiplayer maps ofc).

Gladiatorial combat is hardly relevant to the story, and that's the only way I would like any multiplayer. I could understand maybe a Templar v. Mage v. Celene v. Gaspard conflict, but that seems it would restrict class to faction, which wouldn't work out unless it were very well balanced and planned, which practically would need it to be a standalone game in its own right to be done.

I'm sure some one has done this for their game, but I don't know if they want to bother. It's just more work, forking and making seperate versions of classes. That requires a whole new team.

It was actually in original Dragon Age. Proving grounds in Orzammar where player could fight

PvP is just a bad idea.  They have a good thing going, and I have played many PVP type games and this is just not the universe for it.

No one is saying arenas don't exist. It's why they would be relevant here, to the Inquisition. We don't even go to Orzammar anyways, from what I understand.

I wouldn't care for this.  None of my friends play RPGs so I wouldn't have a crew to make this fun.  However if it was a single player challenge, I would be kind of interested.  I like the current questing in a dungeon idea.

Yes, and how would a Proving be relevant to story of Inquisition? For that matter, why would anyone other than dwarves be in a Proving to start with?

The MP was never built with PVP in mind and Bioware has said this before, so to introduce PVP now would require some serious extra work that was not intended. I don't think Bioware has got enough resources at this stage to introduce PVP in to the mix. So no.

And who said you will go on arena as Inquisitor? Even now in multiplayer you play completely separate character.

nooooooooooooooooo!

PvP is about separation.  Dragon AGe and Bioware games are about creating worlds and communities, about uniting peoples.  They're also about individuality, your choices.  It is a struggle against a greater foe.  PvP is one-upsmanship, degradation, brutality, ruthlessness.  It's about showing who the "real players" are versus the noobs.  I don't want it and I don't see it as a fit.

I didn't say Inquisitor. I said Inquisition. Why is such a thing relevant to the Inquisition?

At least the existing mutliplayer is tied into the actual story. It's not random multiplayer battles for the hell of it, but tied to Advisor quests.

Bottom line is that Story takes priority to me. Else it doesn't need to be in. If there's a story based reason for something, I'm all ears.

No. PVP is for online games like WOW or Guild Wars 2.

Multiplayer alone isn't really something I care about, but PvP multiplayer I care about even less than cooperative multiplayer.
