No. PvP has a tendency to make multiplayer communities rather volatile.

No. PvP has a tendency to make multiplayer communities rather volatile.

From what I experienced the MEMP crowd(and I'd venture to predict the DAMP crowd) already fall into this category.

No, adding pvp to this game would only make the SP suffer. Already people are calling for Knight Enchanter to be nerfed in MP and the game isn't even out yet.

I understand the want for pvp, I love it and do it in every MMO that I play that has the option, but the PvP crowd majority are childish, aggressive and hateful. Something that doesn't need to be added to the already segregated multiplayer crowd for the current MP offering.

please no, play call of duty, star craft, or something else then. Dragon Age is about the story and reasons why we are sent to do operations. Pvp wouldn't have any place in the story.

dont mess with a good thing.

2.)Be relevant to a story.

They probably achieved such great depth for SP and Coop because they freed themselves form the contraints of PvP balance.

And I'm very sceptical about PvP in RPGs, mostly because it hardly ever looks like a fight. It's usually just a bunch of awkward kiting and CC.

So, no. It would probably affect SP and Coop, or would require too much resources to be developed as a very separate thing. Aaand, eve if they could do it, I personally wouldn't care much for it, because of how silly it looks, and would prefer if the resources were spent on expanding Coop.

No. PVP is for online games like WOW or Guild Wars 2.

This.

I'd just really like my single player games like Dragon Age to stay single player.

Maybe Bioware can invent a new IP that is MP and PvP, protecting the DA franchise from that kind of spillover.

PvP is not good for DA's playstyle. It just doesn't work imo.

PvE is good for DA.

That's you though. From my experiences playing MEMP (and I played a ton) I never got this "volatile" attitude from anyone. Everyone I ever came across was generally helpful and I never got a single hate message or anyone whining on mic. I can't say that for any PvP game I have ever played. I'm not judging based on forum sites, just off my first-hand experience playing MEMP.

As for that Knight Enchanter comment, it was just a couple I've seen so far complaining about it, and they didn't really say the complaints were based on multiplayer. Nobody even has any real grounds to suggest any nerfs yet. But if anything turns out to be broken/exploitative I don't see how it could impact single player negatively to adjust it.

I agree though to keep PvP out of DAMP. I don't want any hate messages like in Dark Souls telling me I have no soul for invading them at the Bell Tower. However funny it can be, not too endurable for me after a while. XD

Another good reason I'm against PvP in DAMP is I like how the players are put in one pot together instead of split up between different maps, different modes, and who bought this certain DLC. That's why I was so happy when MEMP's addons were free, and it looks like DAMP will keep that up.

To OP, if you want PvP you could just play another game (like Dark Souls II).

I absolutely can't stand PvP, though I wouldn't try and stop someone else wanting/enjoying it. I used to play WoW many years ago, which included raiding in the leading endgame raiding guild on my server, and I HATED PvP in that game. It just felt like a constant elitist, better-than-you, griefing, unpleasant environment. Yes, there was elitism and tossers in PvE in WoW, and in MEMP to a lesser extent, but it didn't feel the same to me. In WoW, gloating because you killed some boss wasn't the same as gloating at how badly you nuked someone in an arena/battleground, it just feels way more personal and cruel to me, like you're personally attacking them. To do well in WoW PvE, at least when I played it, was a big time commitment (think 5 hours a night, 4 nights a week - more if you did 10 man achievement/timed/whatever runs on off nights, spending almot a month wiping on Illidan before you finally kill him, etc), it's just not the same when you gloat at someone for... not having enough time to do end-game raiding content? And in MEMP, it doesn't really matter to me if there's some elitist person in my group because if they're pro, we win faster, and if they're not pro, I can giggle to myself when they die. If they do introduce PvP I probably wouldn't even try it, but I hope you enjoy it OP if they do ._.

It would not work, you have to approach class balance with a pvp mindset beforehand.

Only if you promise NO balancing. Pvp always brings the crybabies that want to balance the entire game for their one aspect of pvp.

There are lots of good action fantasy PVP games already... some of them are free-to-play MMO yet have more fun and more complex than all Single player games combined (DmC, Witcher, Monster Hunter, Dark Souls or whatever). I don't play BioWare games for action combat fun seriously.

Multiplayer looks sweet and all, but fighting monsters becomes boring after a while. PvP is a whole different story.

PvP isn't actually much of different story in this regard; if you participate for a longer while you'll notice the overall churn (rate at which new players show up and then disappear never to return) is pretty high. Usually related to how well people are doing. And few are doing as well as their ego would lead them to believe the could.

Also, Mass Effect multiplayer is co-operative PvE only too, isn't it? It seemed popular enough in such form, based on its results I doubt BW is desperate to try and alter the formula.

I'd rather devs spent more time on new classes, enemies and so on rather than their time devoted to dealing with the constantly shifting nerf demands that PVP always generates.

Also ME3MP is still alive and well so not everyone feels it gets boring after a while. Case not proven. No support for this motion.

I just don't understand the drive to corrupt single player games with non SP elements.

The company should make a separate intellectual property that caters to MP and PvP desires.

It is not fair to advertise an intellectual property as single player (for years upon years) only to turn around and completely change the dynamic -and genre- of game play.

These changes happen slowly, which is why so many are vocal about the "option" for MP and the now suggestion of PvP.

I heard Elder Scrolls Online wasn't as big of a hit as they thought it would be. (Metacritic score in the low 70's compared to Skyrim's score of 94. User score of 5.6 to boot.) Meanwhile, diehard TES fans are waiting for the sixth installment of a classic SP game.

From what my old guildmates said ESO was a mess at launch(which MMO isn't though), but it turning out to be pretty decent.

Most MMO suffer from 1 major problem, people go in expecting something(Like complete full on 40 dungeon endgame progression) and when it is not immediately delivered they jump ship case in point ToR. While at release endgame was lacking and balance issues were boundless people went in expecting it to be a "WoW" killer and it wasn't and would never be, but fast forward to now and it's a great game with a f2p option(though it's a crappy f2p option).

Well, from reviews I've read, ESO is repetitive and tastes like a weak, watered down version of Skyrim, but also happens to be online.

Edit: and as for free to play.... I really wish that scam would end. :/
