I think that I will have problem with her in the game. She most likely will be unreasonable pro mage freedom character that I have to kill cause she won't listen reason. Sigh.
Returning Character from the books *SPOILER*

I liked Fiona in the books... I really don't understand the hate here.
I liked Fiona on the Calling but not in the Asunder. I think majority of hate towards her comes from that people think she is mary sue-character. I'm bit iffy about her since to me it makes no sense for her to be Grand Enchanter.. what happened to being Grey Warden? ^^;

Considering Vivienne describes her as being in her dotage...this looks a little unrealistic...nice screenie though.

Am I the only one who thought of Fiona as being the one who needed to force a climax or else everything would stay the same - and thus would be bad for all mages?
I like her. I want to meet her, Rhys, Evangeline and see where they stand.

How do you prepare for a declaration of independence that every single person predicts will lead you to war? Form Alliances? Ensure lack of factional politics and divide to ensure your own faction agrees with you? Nah you declare that war right away is what you do beacause "I WANTS MAH FREEEEDOM NOW"
She is probably the worst faction leader in thedas besides those potrayed as comic book villains or are literally insane (Though I have my suspicions about Fiona)
She has divided the circle in half and dragged them into a war, theres no way she could have predicted the certainty of the breach or civil war that followed her declaration so she conciously condemned all mages to death.
Her own people didn't even want it, First the vote failed, then it would have failed again at the one the Lord Seeker interrupted, The only reason it passed the last time is because they had been driven out of Val Royeaux and many of them dead, and an ex member of the Libertarian fratenity made leader of the Aequitarians, and the war had already essentially started.
If the mages win it will be because of PC intervention and pure luck, otherwise the mages would certainly have lost. The next time you intend to declare war Fiona how about you actually prepare for it you idiot

FI and Adria are hot head idiots that havn't bothered to think 5 minutes ahead, it infuriated me reading asunder.
ok so you want to disband the circle that's cool, so you'll make a governing body of mages and there will need to be some where for mages to be trained so they don't hurt anyone or themselves, and you'll need a order to police those that commit crimes and it'll be a good idea to give them the ability to suppress magic so obvious they can't be mages and so they'd need armor, so basicly instead of campaigning to stop the cruelty in the existing circle you'd rather just tear the whole thing down at the cost of thousands of lives and then rebuild it to pretty much the way it was at it's foundation anyway.
I wanted to throttle the short sighted asses, and Fi was so cool in calling ![]()

Actually, yes. You can´t fix something rotten to the core without replacing it completely, even if it stays more or less similar to what was before. You keep significant elements from the original system and they keep doing what they were. Just have to see my country´s politicians in the news to reafirm it.
That said, her idea of holding a vote with the people they wanted to get rid of next door in force, and her being the top mage for unespecified reasons weren´t Gaider´s finer writing moments.

You know I wouldn't have as much of an issue with Fiona if she wasn't connected to Alistair.

Awesome news! Although I was expecting Fiona to be... more grand or idk something like that. It would be nice if she and Alistair have some family moment/time in the game for better or worse. She would be a tough nut to crack if the Inquisitor is pursuing peace.
On a side note, the more characters we see from the books the more awesome Inquisition will be. (My point of view)

Only read of the character in Asunder, but I kind of liked her there. I somewhat understand the complaints people are making about her pushing for the Rebellion, but it was basically the only chance they would have had for such a discussion and much of what the Divine & Wynne were trying to achieve was too little, too late.

I know right, can you believe some folks actually like and support this mary sues agenda?
I know right? Just like those guys who think all Mages are evil and uncontrollable, and that Templars are always in the right! I guess we'll all have to agree to disagree, huh?

Yeah, I honestly don't understand the hate for her because of her desire to break away from the Chantry, since it was already clear to everyone that the Conclave was a sham and Lambert was looking for any excuse to storm in and accuse everyone of treason. And this was how Evangeline summed up the situation, who was actively trying to seek for a peaceful solution.
Plus, the murder of Pharamond happened before the vote was cast and Lambert had already got a buttload of Templars massed to storm the Conclave and attempt to arrest Rhys, so whatever was said there was ultimately meaningless? Fiona could have asked for a vote that "Frogs are the one true God" and it wouldn't have changed anything?
At the Conclave, despite Fiona pushing for independence from the Chantry, it was Lambert who was overall the more unreasonable figure in the room. He was the one who refused to accept that Chantry law and the Divine herself had allowed the Conclave to meet and permitted them to discuss the Rite of Tranquility. While Independence wasn't on the agenda and wasn't something the Chantry wasn't in favour of, they were still legally allowed to discuss it? Futhermore, when Rhys was branded a murderer, Fiona desired to have the mages be involved in discovering the truth and doing so in a rational manner, whereas Lambert burst in with swords drawn.
Fiona may be a contentious character and like Anders and Adrian, seemingly have little end-game beyond "Freedom", but considering the situation and the political climate at the time of Asunder, I honestly doubt that anything could have gone differently? Even Rhys believed that the Rebellion was inevitable, no matter what the Seekers, Templars and Divine attempted to do and he was entirely against it?
