with the new ME game coming out in the near future i often look for the something when searching new info about the game and that is what is the new enemy going to be or in what form. is this new enemy going to be the new leader of Cerberus with new technology gained from the Reapers continue its crusade on putting the human race as the alpha race, is it going to be what the the Reapers claimed what they were "protecting" us from, or could it be a race that is on a conquest for vengeance from what the Reapers did to them who have groan blind from rage believing that any race is a threat to their survival even though there conquest has been the act of genocide leading to the death of planets and species? is this force going to fight the conventional way of raising armies to destroy any who oppose them or work in the shadows using terrorist tactics and plotting its moves with secrecy?
who is the new enemy going to be?

Hope they don't do another Halo like thing.
I would like a corrupt government or a revenge thing small scale for now.

If ME4 is based around something like the ark theory, I think It'll be one of the new Alien races that doesn't want the old council races entering their territory. Maybe those two races suggested in that leak ages ago will be accurate, and the villains will be one of them.

I don't want race there just to be the villain. It will be cool if the major races have similar power and the conflict arise from tensions between them, kind of real wars.

I hope there *is not* a new 'enemy'. I hope it's all exploring ancient mysteries and no 'galactic enemy' or 'great threat' or other bullshit like that. There's plenty of room for smaller stories that are contained within a single game and situational threats.
Maybe an ongoing series of encounters but no real 'omg not yet another galaxy threatening enemy'. That got old and tired REAL fast with Star Wars and Star Trek.

FTFY.
Uber enemies destroying all of the galaxy is just a little bit ...... overused. And stupid.
In ME1 I liked the Reapers - unknowable as Vigil explained. In ME2 they were annoying when it was Harbinger, but the Derelict Reaper was a lot of fun and gave us a scope of how long ago the Reapers existed. By ME3 I was totally fed up with the lack of writing ability. Reapers were not unknowable. Reapers are unthinkably stupid, trapped in a cycle of "preserving life by wiping it all out."

They mentioned the organic vs synthetic theme was returning I doubt it would be on the same scale though. Personally i'd like to play through a game with the theat of a major conflict going on the background and maybe the catalyst for a major conflict toward the end but all as a lead up into the next instalment. Obviously nothing on the same scale as the Reapers though.
Just please bioware don't turn it into star trek.

ehh, I'm not too happy with the returning theme of flesh versus metal theme and universe in peril but was kinda hoping for something scaled down a bit like maybe the humans could be having a civil war over who should lead the humans and has caused wars among the human colonies across the galaxy but the council wont interfere seeing it as an internal conflict

doesn't feel like a universe in peril yet, not a lot to base that on though. My own feeling is that they'd want us to become familiar with the new MEU a lot can happen without a massive galaxy wide threat or a humanity in peril scenario.

They said that they are not afraid of asking big questions and focusing on large themes such as organic/synthetic conflict in the trilogy. That doesn't imply that organic/synthetic conflict will be back in ME:Next

I'd like it to be something smaller scale. As sick as I am of Cerberus, something on their level, without all the Reaper stuff, might be good. I actually feel like they'd have been much better villains (or a joinable faction) in a game that was actually meant to be about them and Humanity's place in the galaxy etc. rather than about saving the entire galaxy from Reapers, because with the time they devoted to Cerberus there wasn't space for them and Reapers, and the Reapers got the short end of the stick in that regard. And having said that, I hope to god it has nothing to do with Cerberus at all.
Although who knows, if executed well they might be able to convince me otherwise.

Well, that's the one million dollar question:
Is is the a new ME with a new universe (but similar to the trilogy in key elements) or is it set in the same universe as the trilogy but tells a different story.
I guess this is vital to know before guestimations about villains can be made.
Either way, i personally have seen enough of reapers and cerberus for now. I'd rather kill something new this time around.
