Mage. Oh you muggles.
What class for the first character, on that all-important, unrepeatable first playthrough?

This is the question I've been asking myself for awhile now. I cannot decide between a dual-wielding rogue or a 2-handed warrior. I would rather go warrior, but I really like Cassandra and I want to use her as a permanent companion as I plan on romancing her. If I do this, then 2 warrior spots will always be filled up, meaning I can't have to much diverse banter between different warriors and I wont be able to use her during some companion quests. Using a rogue would fix this problem, but I would rather play a warrior as I always have for my first play through. I will do a rogue and mage play through later anyway but my first play through is always the most important to me. Can anyone help me decide?

What is your favorite class? Your first playthrough should be the most enjoyable one, so go with your favorite class. As for banter, how do you know there won't be diverse banter between two warriors? Cassandra,Blackwall, and Iron Bull are warriors, but have completely different experiences, it may surprise you.
Be a warrior, if that is what you prefer for your first playthrough.

Thanks to all who responded...
Since I was still undecided, I played the tutorial five times, to get the lay of the land. First I played Human Sword & Shield, Dwarven Duel-Wield, Qunari Two-Hander, and Elven Mage. The mage was the first I had serious fun with, what with all the baton-twirling and all that. But worlds away from the DAO one-elf army who was an unstoppable wave of destruction from the moment she stepped out of the Fade.
The Qunari was the first who had to use potions and also the first (and only) one who died. One moment she was at full health, the next she was dead. Just like that. The mage had to guzzle one potion but by and large she had things well under control - once she had learnt the fine art of kiting which was largely unknown to my DAO mages (occasional mishaps when soloing alpha ogres and revenants notwithstanding).
Then I replayed my human again because during that first tutorial run I had been fighting with the interface more than with any enemies. Not only did I have a real blast this time - what with two tanks rolling over the opposition in tandem - but I found that S&Sing offers a much wider range of development choices than in DAO. For a first playthrough it also has the advantage that a tank can lead from the front, which avoids fragmentation of focus during battles. And they have guard coming out of their ears, which makes the absence of healing a non-issu.
And then I saw the tiny little diamond hanging off the lower right of Lunge and Slash - and I was immediately sold. Body and soul. FORCE JUMP IS BACK! Yay! It was one of the defining marks of my favourite class in my first ever RPG (KotOR), which was the Jedi Guardian and which in KotOR II returned in spades as an LSM Guardian Marauder.
May the Force be with you!
P.S.: Alayna's previous incarnation was the trailblazer in DAO, and I had a blast with her too even though now I could never contemplate anything other than solo nightmare mages in that game. Note: most of my character profiles where not in post-finale state when they were frozen, since I was doing all kinds of research that involved reloading older saves; Alayna's profile was frozen after a bout of Loghain duels.
