Well it is another good reason to side with the Mages.

Not to mention Connor is on the Mage side of the story so if we want him in the Inquisition, and not have anything bad happen to him, players will need to side with Mages.

However, taking a side appear more about who you want to save from a horrible fate at this point.

Side with Mages

Spoiler

side with Templars...

Spoiler

Is that true?

My issue is, it's because of her leadership this has happen and hurt the mages even more. She has hurt the very people she was fighting for in more ways then one.

Both sides have been hurt in the war, we can already see that Templars have lost much of the respect they used to get from people too. Blaming the leaders is something inevitable that often happens but that doesn't make it any less wrong. People, mages followed her because they wanted to, no one forced the rebel mages to stay with her, they could always remain with loyalists. You have to consider the fact that all Libertarians and most Aequitarians joined the rebellion, the remaining mages had a choice.

Fiona wanted autonomy to begin with, the amount of resistance she faced was unimaginable so she had two choices, to surrender or improvise. She chose the latter.

Then you got to side with Mages. not matter the choice Fiona will be punished for her mistakes later in the game if you side with Mages. It only a matter that you get to choose Fiona's fate if you side with Mages when

Spoiler

Once that event happens you as the Inquisitor can influence and decide her fate without having the other Mages suffer for her mistakes.

This isn't about Fiona and more towards the fact that those two shouldn't be restricted to only mages imo

They are pro-mage, why is that hard to believe? Both of them played a major role in starting of rebellion.

Because having mages that don't even agree and opposed their leader(Fiona) still staying in Redcliffe so they die/get used is stupid.

You are ignoring the huge factor that they will not accept mages getting tranquiled or killed. They might oppose Fiona but they oppose Templars harder.

Don't forget a lot of the good mages were forced into the Rebel Mage side because of the Mage vs Templar War.

Due to this they are in a position to either side with the Rebel Mages or be killed by the Templars and other Templar supporters.

it basically a side with people you don't agree with and have a chance to live or go get yourself killed by people who want you dead choice they have right now.

And not every pro-mage would agree with what's happening in the Hinterlands

And I wouldn't even call them truly pro-mage

That may be the case, but no one who supports the mages would allow them to get killed or tranquiled. They oppose the Templars even if they don't support the mages fully (which they do, they only have problems with Fiona). Can you honestly say Rhys and Evangline would standby and watch mages get doomed?

Funny I don't see Vivienne's mages being killed or turned tranquil nor the mages who went to the Inquisition

He's a demon suit in my playthrough. I wonder how that interaction will play out.

Ungrateful brat I saved him and in return spouts heresy! I should have given him to the demon.

First playthrough I saved him, next one I killed him. Alistair was very upset about this.

Does it matter? the majority of mages rebelled (based on size of fraternities) so again they will not accept slaughter of mages. Fiona is just one person whereas mages are a whole people. Evangline betrayed the Templar order for mages and Rhys too, he voted for rebellion. They are completely against Templars even if they don't support the rebel mages fully.

Not once have I mentioned Fiona in this discussion, so why do you keep bringing her up?

Because you are missing the fact that if Fiona was not the leader Rhys would be. That means they are fully on mages side and oppose the Templars, they just have problems with Fiona. I don't see how these people can allow mages get killed. You asked why they are mage only, this is the obvious answer. They have done too much for mages already, its only natural they will not let them fall.

Well you can always choose to side with mages and save them.

Either way Fiona will have to face her mistakes but by Siding with Mages you will be able to influence her punishment when that event arrives.

As for Vivienne and Inquistion mages they are most likely protected by Vivienne and the Inquisition's influence. Both of them have shown to be very influential and should not be crossed politically.

Also Vivienne did support Justina's plan to change the Circle into something better. She maybe Pro-Circle but she is also pro-change.

If Rhys was the leader we wouldn't be in this little predicament :P

Your spoiler is why I don't want to side with the mages.

Hmmm... do you believe me if I say your stance is irrational?

Can the decision of one person condemn the whole mage class? I can point out that Meredith's use of red Lyrium artifact

and its subsequent "possession" of her was a significant contributing factor in the Kirkwall rebellion.

Accordingly, applying the same priciple to Meredith as is applied to Fiona, both groups should be "deleted". Is that not so?

Anyone who thinks he would not kill Templars to save mages is delusional. He will do what's best for mages or support such actions and that does not include siding with Templars against mages.

This one was a no brainer considering he was suppose to be in DA2 but got cut and we're in Redcliffe. I'm glad to see him and I will rid his home of Tevinter magisters.

Im glad i saved Connor as well , he has turned into a very level headed young man but i wont be siding with the mages even if it means he dies this time.
