It seems to be stuck at 86%.
Whhhhhhy?
NnooooooOOOOOoooooo! Oh, Hannah, I am so sorry to hear that.
Auto-attack gone?! *sad panda* I hate active button smashing
Did you already receive your IE box Ruth? I hear some bad things about the quality of it, and lots of broken pieces?
Yeah, the IE stuff is fine, not broken at all, but I can see how they might have arrived broken, as the packaging was total balls. Pretty much, everything was just jammed into a "velvetized" molded plastic backing. The quality of the stuff is nothing to write home about, but it was never going to be. Not sure how many lockpicks there are supposed to be, but there's a few, and it isn't as if I was really all that interested in them, anyway. Mostly, I got it for the tarot cards, and the art on them is phenomenal, even if I shake my head a bit over the symbolism. The Lovers is Varric and Bianca, for example, or his chest and the business end of Bianca, anyway. The meaning I've always attributed to the card is that the querant is being presented with a hard choice, so I'm not sure if I go for that, but it's a minor quibble. The art is gorgeous. The box it came in is surprisingly solid. I kind expected it to be smaller, but it's the exact size and shape of a hatbox.
Over the weekend, I'll take a picture of the loot, and you can decide for yourself if it was worth it.

I'm mostly interested in the tarot cards too. And the cloth map probably. Perhaps I can use the feather/ink and lockpicks sometime for larp as well. Fingers crossed for now, as I hope to find out later this week whether a friend of mine managed to pick up the case (IE without the game) at the store in France.
And I'm used to glueing plastic together (playing warhammer and such), so I won't mind too much if the pieces are not 100% intact. I understood that the 'red velvet' crap was glued into the box, is that right? If so: pity, I was hoping I could use the box for general storage

Not for nothing, but if it's just glue, that should be easy enough to work around. I'm going to attempt something similar, probably. It's a big sturdy box, and decorative. That said, it's cardboard, not wood, so I wouldn't count on using it to store heavy things, but it would be a nice way to game disks or scarves or something fairly light.

Just to give you some idea of the differences between the Character Creator and Game World lighting, here's Iain (I reuse names, so sue me), a mage who will probably wind up with Dorian. (Didn't realize it at the time, but he looks kinda like a young Tom Cruise.
)
I'm playing on high, mostly, with Ultra meshes and Medium tesselation. When I ran the game the first time, it was as smooth as can be with nary a stutter, but the second time I fired the game up, I got stutter. I've got a feeling this is going to be like both previous installments where I have to reboot frequently.

He's cute! But the stubble looks a bit strange to me... like he had fun with chocolate sprinkles instead of growing a beard.

Maybe he did! ![]()
In DA2, the stubble was great, but in this one... it looks kinda weird.
A lot of people were saying that chargen has a learning curve at least with regards to customization, but I found it to be fairly intuitive. The big downside from what I could see is that apart from a few styles which are OK, most are shockingly terrible. The hair of *every* BioWare game is always problematic. There doesn't seem to be a true black. The blond hair colors are too yellow and the lighter end of the brown range is too orange. Even the shade I picked above (the second-to-darkest brown) is too orange. The red hair shades are great. The eyebrows and facial hair are always matched to the hair color. Where it is truly at its best is in the complexion slider. You can get everything from doll-like porcelain smooth to windburned (with or without freckles), to aged and weathered. That part, at least, is fantastic.

I really like the skin texture so far. It looks really realistic. The hair... yes, that's another story. Oh well... *sits on her hands, waiting for the moment she can give it a go*

... Right... Just checking the website of the shop, to see the status of my order. It's still 'in progress', but it says now 'order before 11 pm, receive it the next day'... so that would be tomorrow!!! So far, so good. Until I read the FAQ... two times people asked 'will we get the pre-order bonus', and the answer was two times 'no'... I really hope that that is a mistake from the shop, cause I would be royally pissed off if even THAT would be denied to us Europeans
No IE, no deluxe edition... oh, you want the pre-order dlc stuff? Too bad!

I hope you get the pre-order DLC stuff. That would be rude.
For an international company, they sure do have issues keeping things fair across the board.

Whee, I received an email overnight that the game has been shipped, so I'll guard the front door now ![]()
Yeah, I'll keep my fingers crossed for that too... I preordered in June, so I would call that 'on time'...

Here's to hoping you get to play today, Miriam! ![]()
(and a random pic of the very Dalish *snicker* Amythiel Lavellan. I take far too many screenshots.

Just make sure you post your screen shots ASAP! I can't wait to see everyone's inquisitors!

Yup, got the game shortly after lunch, and after installing I've played for about 4 hours now.
I had to tone down the settings from high to medium to avoid slide show vids, but... the hair!!! They're all made from plastic
And I don't like the targetting/looting system at all... Further I like it so far, although I am really wandering around with 'lol, I have no clue at all where I'm going'. Skyrim 2.0 for that matter... And I already wandered too close to an area that was apparently still too difficult XD
Edit: and btw, indeed no pre-order bonusses for me ![]()

Whoa, that is totallly unfair! I can't believe that you paid for them and didn't get them!
Can you tell us a little bit about your inquisitor? Maybe we should write up Inquisitor's diaries to keep track of our progress through the game?
#42
Posté 20 novembre 2014 - 07:07
Yeah, I think it is totally unfair too... Guess I'll take some time tomorrow to find out who to complain to.
Anyway, my 1st character is the human archer Unda (she was first planned to be s&s... but I switched that after the 'no auto-attack' warning)
I could do a diary, but what about people who still haven't played at all?

(Maybe keep it under spoilers?)
Also, she as ADORABLE.

And apparently I didn't get the preorder bonus, because I've ordered the game at a Dutch store... Seriously, how much do they want to annoy their customers? Anyway... I hope it will come with the other versions I've ordered...

So...InquisiTess. Because I'm playing the crap out of Inquisition, but I'm beginning to miss *this* game. ![]()

Wow, she's hot!
And yeah, having quite some fun here too! Well, except for wandering around in the Hinterlands...

Those Hinterlands. Yeah. Lots and lots of side quests. And lots of "You can't get there from here." And lots of *dying* if you go near the two Redcliffe Farm rifts before you're strong enough.
The Storm Coast is gorgeous and the quests there are a lot of fun, but I can't say I'm a fan of bunny-hopping up the ravines trying to get purchase on the rocks. But doing so has been interesting. There's this one place that's nigh inaccessible, on the far side of a rocky outcropping, and if you climb as far as you can and as high as you can, you'll find there's a camp table and chair set up complete with a plate of cheese and a wine bottle. I was just about to take a screenshot, but I was laughing too hard to find the right key, and then Solas hopped up and bumped me off into the ocean. Bratty elf!

Lol! Yeah, it is sometimes giving me almost an Assassins Creed/Skyrim vibe, with the 'how the heck am I going to get THERE?' and the climbing XD

Who's everybody's "A Team"? The party you pick when you know it's going to be hairy?
For my Cadash DW rogue, I like to bring Blackwell, Sera, and Solas. Sometimes, I'll swap Varric for Sera (gotta have an archer) or Dorian for Solas, but Cassandra disapproves of literally everything dear Cadash does, so I've learned that it's best to keep her in camp. She's like Morrigan in that regard. I adore her as a character, but she doesn't work well with Cadash.

Inspired by Tracie's Tessa, I decided to have a go at making a Dragon Age Beldin.
And I've got a vicious cold and am too sick to actually play, so I'm making future Inquisitors.
I don't make elves very well, but Solas is picky, so Eshara Lavellan. (I also suck at thinking up names.)
And I did a qunari, Kadan Adaar. You can't tell from the lighting, but his eyes are kinda purplish grey. I was happy with it.
