Seriously, Wicked hearts?! Wasn't the instruction to 'be as discrete as possible'?
Hmm, I'm wondering a bit about some headcanon of mine... It's regarding scout Harding

Apparently, some of the cards change once you've completed their personal quests. In this screenshot, you can see that Blackwall's is different. (You don't get nudity in the romance scene, but you get it in the character picker, so that's OK.) Varric's and Vivienne's have also changed. I suppose the latter two did because they aren't romanceable and their quests are done. I've got IB, Cassandra, Sera, and Dorian up to friendship and their non-romance quests done, too, but they aren't changed.
For what it's worth, Varric's changed twice for me, first run. Three cards for him, total.
For me Varric's has changed two times. Blackwall's, Cole's, Sera's also changed for sure (haven't done Sera's quest yet, but I guess she is slowly warming up for me? I mean, she is less hostile). I can't recall seeing any changes yet for the rest. If you want I can take screenshots of my party picker?
Edit: possible spoiler about last seen changes for Sera and Varric:
Edit 2: screenies! (no actual spoiler
)
Hmm, yeah, Sera's did change, now that I think about it, and so did Dorian's. Cass's did not... or maybe it did? No idea.
I keep thinking that I've got Varric's friendship meter maxed out, but I keep getting approval, so it must be ten times as high as everyone else's, because he absolutely loves everything I do. Unlike Cole, who doesn't seem to like much that I do.
For me it's like this with every decision I take: everyone approves, Sera and Cole disapprove >< Solas used to be approving of everything, but he changed his mind too...
Well, I found out the circumstances under which Iron Bull says "I will bring myself to sexual pleasure while thinking of this with great respect." If you kill a high dragon with him in the party, he gets you drunk on qunari rotgut and you get to talk about dragons.
I also found out why it is a really bad idea to take on a high dragon with IB as the only warrior in the party. I had Dorian and Vivienne spamming barrier, but it would have worked a lot better with Blackwell or Cass in the party to drop that guard down faster. Also, If you placed everything in Bull's 2H tree and the Berserker tree, he hasn't got anything that can drop guard. Viv's heal focus-powered spell is pretty darned useful, too, as is Dorian's focus-powered Haste. If I take on any more dragons after this, it will probably be with a different character, preferably a mage, and I'll bring both Cass and Blackwall and probably Vivienne.
The strategy guide recommends a party of level 14+. I was at level 19 and the Abyssal High Dragon was still tough.
Yeah, that line really got me backing away slowly XD I took on the dragon in the Hinterlands at about level 14-15, with Cas, Sera and Viv, and Vivienne was convinced that she should melee the damn thing
And all of them LOVE to stand in the fire... *sigh* the AI is really stupid this time around.
Also almost got my behind handed to me in the Emerald Graves the other day. Wandering around in the north is cool and such, but not if a giant decides to bring along 3(!) bronto's... That was my potion supply, lets get back to camp NOW ![]()
Oh, the barkeep dropped something like this on me yesterday when I asked for rumors: "Some complain that you have time to bed your allies. I am not judgmental, not much."
Wait, what?
And noticed something regarding NPC romances:
Well, that's something that isn't going to happen in my game. Not the dragon, I'll probably do that one with Blackwall and two mages. Dorian was pretty useless, so it may be Solas and Vivienne. After playing through the Blackwall romance once, I don't know if I'm going to be able to do any of the others. Maybe I'll run my human mage to try Dorian's.
About NPC Romances:
Maker's Breath! Those two bicker constantly!
Huh. Go fig.
I think that if I decide to start fighting a lot of dragons, it'll be with either a mage or a tank character, and I'll use respec potions before the fight to give them the appropriate elemental spells. That will make life easier.

Wowsers, yeah, Emerald Graves. There's like, 15 giants up there. I tried taking them on with Blackwell, Bull, and Viv, but Bull kept dying, and that got annoying, so I swapped him out for Cass. After that, it was pretty fun, having Cadash zip around behind everyone, in and out of stealth, ducking in for random backstabs. Too much fun, really. Took out 5 giants (they're a lot easier if you can pull one off by his onesies) and got enough bronto hide for a full set of armor. ![]()
I'm now doing the 'what pride has wrought' or something like that. Think I'll return to the emerald graves after that for some revenge
And this time with a proper team.
Tempest and Blackwall's friendship is struggling. ![]()
Sorry to hear that
Bartha would also have serious issues with that. My current character gave him the benefit of the doubt, but she is far from amused.
I think I'm going to get a hard time with poor Bartha on her playthrough
Cullen and Solas are already not interested to start with. I see her falling for Dorians flirting, only to have him go 'nope, I'm gay', then go for Blackwall, which would most likely not end well either... Maybe she'll have to look for her bi side
Regarding the dishonesty, my Cadash had no trouble forgiving him because she figures she understands lying for the greater good, and when it mattered, Blackwell *did* fess up and own everything, and he paid for his crime many times over by dedicating his life to helping others. He became a new man. How is that worse than Leliana, who will casually have someone murdered for spreading gossip or to cement a political alliance? Bearing in mind that she does this with the Inquisitor's full support and sanction. No, Cadash was able to forgive him for murdering the Calliers. He was blindsided, overwhelmed, and made a bad decision. She (Cadash) made bad decisions, too, and many of them had a high body count. That's what happens when you're the leader. You don't always have time to think it out, and when a decision turns out to be horrific, you have to keep going, because dead people can't atone for anything. Blackwell's atonement was a lifetime of relentless community service and a guilt he will *never* put aside. How can she punish him more than he already punishes himself? And once his truth does come to light, he owns it like a man, and never once makes excuses about it, even with the knowledge that half the party hates him for it. (Except for Varric, who thinks it makes him more human, Dorian, who taunts him a little because he's a dick but eventually accepts him, Cole, who understands his motivations and kept his secret the whole time because he understood all along, Iron Bull, whose past as a ben hassrath is almost as bad and who snapped himself over it, and Sera, who cheerfully bludgeons a man to death with a smile on her face because he outplayed her, and Vivienne, who can't be bothered to think about Blackwell at all. So really, just Cassandra.)
Does Bartha still have issues with Beldin's dishonesty? He was living a lie, too, and would have continued to do so forever if Bartha hadn't gone to Tarl, and he tried to go on doing so, even then. Like Blackwell, the only thing that forced him to come clean was the fact that someone would have to die for his lie to continue.

Don't usually make the your/you're mistake. Go fig.
Also keep in mind that Beldin was a sergeant in *Arl Howe's* army. He would have been ordered to march on Highever, and he would have passed the order on to his men. Would he have been remorseful later? Yes. Might he have found his old life not worth living after that? Without a doubt. If he had gone through with it, I could see him joining the Wardens to atone and leaving his old life behind. In actual fact, had the present campaign been set after the start of the Blight, that would have been his backstory, but this campaign starts before the Blight, so he'll just have to have a long think about it once the party learns about Highever.
How would Bartha have felt about Fenris? Fenris deliberately misleads Hawke, knowingly sending Hawke into an ambush, for no purpose other than to flush out a personal enemy. No one but him benefits from that. Special case? (Here's a hint: If you are going to deny forgiveness to one person because they couldn't find their way out of a bad situation, you can't forgive another for the same. "But I was a slave" only gets you so far. Fenris is *not* stupid. He would have seen that there are other ways to get things done, but that one was expedient.)
It's only been a day, so I wouldn't have expected Bartha to start chatting casually with Beldin. He's still got a lot of trust issues about that, too, and they aren't going to go away overnight, if they ever do.
Yup, Bartha's going to hate the wartable, probably going to solve most issues diplomatically (because she'll have serious issues with Leliana's assassinating/ruining people's lives and the military/aggressive approach from Cullen).
I totally get where Blackwall is coming from. You'll get orders and you make wrong decisions. Bartha is a merchant with no knowledge about the military. She doesn't do orders, she thinks for herself. With her current knowledge, she simply can't understand the others point of view.
Having issues with harming others is a thing for her, hence why she responded disapproving of Rael's sudden departure and why I expect her to face lots of difficulties as Inquisitor. It is also why she is currently blaming herself for ruining Beldins lie. (Although, truth be told, if he hadn't asked her to go to Tarl, she would not have done that. Hence why she understood too late what the consequences were and panicked). She has promised to help Beldins people, and will do that, but I think she might leave after that. I don't see her easily recover from the idea that the group cannot trust her anymore, and there is too much at stake.
{This is getting off DAI, but I wanted to explain something.
Beldin's trust issues have nothing to do with Bartha going to Tarl. He *told* her to do it because he was sick of living the lie and wanted it to end. In other words, there was nothing to distrust about that. It was honest and forthright. It was a good decision. The part he has a problem with is when she ran away afterward. Panic, yes. Doing something she regrets? Yes. *Everyone* makes bad decisions - Beldin, Bartha, Blackwall. They have all done things that make it harder for people to trust them. Running away from the consequences will not help, but staying around and facing them with determination and the will to make it better works wonders.
}
For the record, Tempest would agree with all of that! Intellectually she understands Blackwall's choices. Their friendship took a hit, but she does want to rebuild it.
I guess I'm nearing the end of the game now... I think I'll finish the companion quests first though. And got to make up my mind whether I want to finish some more of the regular ones first too... choices, choices...
{And whatever, I'm a champion at making bad decisions. In hindsight I'm regretting the whole way I played out Bartha, but it has happened, so be it. I've got to fail at more things than just life, right?
At least Bartha is going to keep quiet now, until she sees it fit to leave.}
Aw, but we love Bartha! ![]()
Tempest hates being the Inquisitor. So many no-win decisions with no clear right answer, and people getting hurt either way. She has a lot of guilt and self-doubt. She'd much rather just be quietly raising her family in some small town.
But of course, I as player am enjoying watch her squirm. ![]()
