Hey guys!

Is it possible to lend someone your physical copy of the game for them to play on their PC?

Thanks a lot! :)

I believe that physical copy doesn't matter, as after the first installation the game's code will be tied to your Origin account. You could lend your friend your Origin account (give him your username/password) if you don't mind and he could then download the game on his computer as far as I know. But I'm guessing that's frowned upon so.

Thanks for the reply!

So I give him my username and password and he can download the game. Will he be able to play the game with his account then?

No.

He can only play the game through your username... If he wants to play it on his account, he has to buy the game under his own account...

This is one example of how console versions of games can be better.

Oh, okay. As long as it's possible.

Thanks! :)

Software licensing is for the use of the software rather than simply having the software loaded on a PC.

In theory, you could load any software you want on your PC...you just can't use it until you are licensed to do so.

Lending the physical copy is a great idea if you are trying to save network bandwidth.  This would allow installation through the local media rather than over a network download. (Origin i.e. 25 GBytes)  But to play the game, the person using the software has to have it linked to their Origin Account.  This requires the license / activation code that either comes with a unique physical copy or with a unique digital download purchase.

Just a gentle reminder.  Software piracy is a crime.  The victims being the men and women who have spent their time and effort to provide consumers with a piece of work that they have poured their souls into.  It would be their IP that is being stolen and used without regard for their efforts and without compensation.

It would only be a problem if you were both playing it at the same time. if you're not, then it's no different than lending a cartridge or disk in the old days. Having him/her log into your Origin account (while you are not also logged in; i have no idea if that's even possible) is no different than having them sit at your computer and do it.
