Not to be naive but how does one tell if their CPU is a dual or quad core. I know I have an Intel Core i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40 GHz with 16 MB RAM. but I can't find anything that says if it is a dual or quad processor. I'm guessing it's dual.

I'm also puzzled at how a game console plays this game, if a well-configured PC cannot. Are game consoles that powerful, and if they are, why aren't the graphics better in console games. In the DAI trailers, it is relatively easy to spot the screen shots done on a game console compared to those done on a PC. Not trying to be insulting... just curious.

Googled for you. http://www.intel.com...-processor.html

You should be fine, it seems to have 4.

Thank you for answering. Unfortunately, I am not fine. I hang, or crash to desktop. Sometimes it even locks the machine to where I have to cut power to restart. I sometimes get a message about DirectX 11 not being able to handle the calls passed to it. Could that be a DirectX 11 problem, or a video card problem *GTX 670, driver 344.75), or a Bioware problem. At this point, I cant' play the game for more than a minute or two before it crashes. I am confused and frustrated. BioWare, how far you have fallen.

...Sorry to hear. I honestly don't know much about making computers run properly.

Maybe someone can give better advice...

A few things you need to check off the list.

1) Do you meet the minimum hardware specs?

Minimum PC Specs

  • OS: Windows 7 or 8.1 64-bit
  • CPU: AMD quad-core CPU @2.5 GHz / Intel quad-core CPU @2.0 GHz
  • System RAM: 4 GB
  • Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 4870 / NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT
  • Graphics Card Memory: 512 MB
  • Hard Drive Space: 26 GB
  • DirectX 10

Asking for help with an underspecced system is wasting  everyone's time. This tool will help calculate if your system can run DAI:

http://www.systemreq...temId=10917&p=r

NB: It won't tell you about outdated software, drivers. settings which can also cause problems. It will report whether your hardware can or cannot run the game.

2) Is Windows 7/8.1 up to date?

Here you need to ensure that the .NET Framework software and Microsoft Visual C libraries are the latest and greatest that Microsoft provides. Simple go to your Windows Update screen from the Control Panel and select Search for Updates. Install all that you find. Language updates need not apply.

3) Graphic Drivers

Other users have reported problems like freezing, crashes, video stuttering..etc with nVidia Graphic cards. You must install the latest drivers if not done already.

4) Last Resort

If you still are unable to see the main DAI screen!!

 NOTE*NOTE*NOTE -- use at your own risk -- *NOTE*NOTE*NOTE

You may need to edit the ProfileOptions_profile file found in

Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age Inquisition\Save

The idea here is to lower the DAI graphics settings to LOW. Then, if it works and you get to the main screen where you see the mages and templars walking to Haven, you can slowly increase them to MEDIUM, from the OPTIONS menu -> Graphics. Your mileage may vary.

This is what it looks like:

GstRender.MeshQuality 2
GstRender.OverallGraphicsQuality 5
GstRender.PostProcessQuality 1
GstRender.ResolutionScale 1.000000
GstRender.ScreenSafeAreaHeight 0.950000
GstRender.ScreenSafeAreaWidth 0.950000
GstRender.ScreenUIScale -1.000000
GstRender.ScreenUIXOffset 0.000000
GstRender.ScreenUIYOffset 0.000000
GstRender.ShadowQuality 1
GstRender.TerrainQuality 1
GstRender.TessellationQuality 2
GstRender.TextureQuality 2
GstRender.UndergrowthQuality 1

Change everything above 1 to 1. IE: meshquality from 2 to 1. Leave OverallGraphicsQuality alone as I'm not sure what the game will do if set to 1.

Make a BACKUP of the file FIRST in case you need to restore it.

If you don't know what you are doing then DON'T mess with it.

Good luck

Hey Guys, i might have a possible albiet probably temporary fix for those with hang ups, freezes and such when on loading screens. After perusing the interwebs for days and trying all the fixes this is what i did and went from waiting 10 to 20 minutes on each and every loading time (because it would just freeze and chill there for a long time) to waiting maybe 3 to 5 minutes (its been just around 3 the last two times i tested) I went to the properties on both origin and dai icons on my desktop and switched off any compatibility modes and "run as administrator" upon testing it was only a bit faster but would still freeze for a ridiculous amount of time, then on a whim i deleted the day one patch (found in your program files and dai install directory in the folder Update) and hit "check for update" it updated and put origin in offline mode, Loaded up to the menu very quickly. Upon loading my save game the wait time is about 3 to 5. For some that may indeed still be a very long wait, however i'm quite okay with that considering i was being forced to wait 15-20 minutes upon loading up an area. Don't get me wrong i still hope they fix this issue in the next patch but for now i hope this little work around will help those who have trouble getting into the game upon launching especially with freezes on loading screens.

Or you could go to "Device Manager" , double-click "Processors" and count how many cores you have.

...  Might be helpful to those who may not know exactly which processor they're running.

I want to add if you do not have the rams required you will still be able to play the game like if it says you have 3,70 gb ram out of minimum of 4 or something like that(rams are good for faster loading) but if anything else is missing from the required minimum chances are you likely can not play the game but be sure no matter how crappy your video card is it can use direct x 10 but better direct x 11 and and this is the most important has more then 512 mb .

The Bioware just need to optimize the game for dual core processors. There are a lot of people with dual core computers. The company will just lose the half of a market. It is sad that my computer IS for this game exept of processor. It is also interesting that Skyrim, the game with very beautiful graphics goes on ultra and that means that it is optimized very well. May be if Bioware at least tried hard to optimize this game then I could play it on low - medium at least.

The point is that the game goes on dual core computers but very very very slowly, just freezes a lot. And the problem is DENUVO.

It is useless, it has been already cracked. It overloads processor only. Honestly there is a dual core fix for this game in the internet.

But can`t developers make is speсially and qualitatively for users.

So if Bioware will make a patch for dual core, they can`t even imagine how many people will be greatfull to them and how much money they will pay for this game.

The only advice I can give is to make sure your computer has booted up and loaded all of its startup programs before you start DA:I. With my custom PC, I sometimes start up DA:I too early and it takes a little longer to load the game.

I'm having a similar problem. I call baloney on it not being able to run on dual cores though - I've logged well over 20 hours on the game (my last save was just before the Emprise du Lion mission). I'm usually able to play the game for days or even a couple weeks at a time on minimum settings with minor stuttering (especially in rainy areas). Every couple weeks I'd start it up and run into severe stuttering that would significantly delay loading times and make the game unplayable. Previously, I've been able to delete the "ProfileOptions_Profile" file and repair the install via origin and have it start up just fine again, but this time that fix is no longer working. Thinking of trying to uninstall and reinstall the game.

Specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo CPU   P8700 @ 2.53GHz (2CPUs), ~2.5GHz
RAM: 4096MB
DirectX: Version 11
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 130M
Main Driver: nvd3dumx.dll,nvwgf2umx.dll,nvwgf2 version 9.18.13.4192

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601)
