Can't speak to the potential problem of the OP regarding quad cores.

But I was having a similar freezing issue.

I ran the repair utility (r-click on the game in Origins, select 'Repair Game') and it seems fine now.

Could be a driver hickup.

They already patched the game last week and eliminated several graphics issues and bugs. I am sure they are monitoring all bug reports and work on solutions.

I found this quote from bioware personel.

To clarify a statement made in this thread:

The game will NOT run on a dual core machine. The machine referenced above is actually 2 CPUs each with 2 cores (thus Quad core)

A dual core machine will not run the game.

So no love for us poor bastards. Though I don't see why my e8400 3.6ghz(overclock) cpu couldn't at least play on lowity low.

I guess game is gonna stay unplayed for a long time by me. Well, whatever.

This can't be true. Hopefully something has changed or else I won't be able to play. ;(

The E8500 is a dual-core, right? That sounds like your problem right there. I'm assuming because of the 4.00GB usable RAM that you're running 64-bit, but if not then 32-bit is a no go either.

ETA: Here's the line from the minimum specs regarding CPU:

"CPU: AMD quad-core CPU @ 2.5 GHz, Intel quad-core CPU @ 2.0 GHz"

quad-core is required.

Well above minimum specs. Update the drivers for the SLI profile.

A new GPU wouldn't hurt though. A AMD R9 290 or a GTX 970 are affordable and super fast.

it seems like this is the active thread for pc problems so ill repost a repost:I can load up and start a new game, but when I get to the CC all I get is green background. Can't see the preset faces, can't customize anything because it's just not there. I tried picking a preset at random and advancing to see if it was just something with the CC, and the opening prologue is just a jagged mess of colors until I get to the first dialogue with Cassandra...where I can see the dialogue wheel, but the screen is entirely gray otherwise :/
My laptop doesn't meet the minimum specs, but it could run Shadow of Morodor, Battlefield 4 and Thief on Medium settings, so I thought it might come through one last time.

My specs: CPU
Intel Core i7 3632QM @ 2.20GHz
Ivy Bridge 22nm Technology
RAM
8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz (11-11-11-28)
Motherboard
ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. Q400A (SOCKET 0)
Graphics
Generic PnP Monitor (1366x768@60Hz)
Intel HD Graphics 4000 (ASUStek Computer Inc)
Storage
698GB Seagate ST750LM022 HN-M750MBB (SATA)

is there any chance this might be fixed if I wait for the Na release and day one patch? or should I just throw in the towel and shell out for a proper gaming desktop

They have the "great game guarantee". Shouldn't be a problem.

You need a real graphics cards. The integrated Intel chip is weak and the drivers are crap.

Buy a proper gaming PC. It's not that expensive.

if tat wasn't the problem. Where i live the most basic quad core processor would be something around 250 bucks

Is there any way to play this game with a dul core that doesn't include s pact with the devil?

Depends on the currency. In USD or EUR? Probably. Definitely, if build it yourself.

Just make sure you get an Intel Quadcore/AMD A8 or A10 (3+ GHz), at least 8 GB Ram and a decent graphics card (AMD R9 280, Nvidia GTX 760 or better). Graphics card should cost at least 200 € if you buy it separate.

Can't you get a cheap one on Ebay? CPUs for your socket 775 board should be dirt cheap. A Q8400 shouldn't cost more than 50 USD or EUR.

I should have done that too, but battlefield also required quad core processor and it works on computer. Deluxe edition is also very cheap on origin, i hate this bad luck of mine,

OK, now I'm worried with all this talk about the game being unable to run on certain machines. I have an "Intel® Core™ i7-4770 CPU @3.40GHz" is that OK to play the game?
