Here is a re-post of a post I made earlier. I have a 4 year pc, and it is not a quad core that I know of. It might be, but I do not know that much about computers. Go to the site listed and it will tell you what you need to run the game, or it will tell you that you can run it.

just went to this web site, after posting, #85, and it told me that I have no problems running DA3.   My pc is 4 years old.

http://www.systemreq...ntslab.com/cyri

I am sure there are a lot of you that have a better maching than I do.

It says that I have an Intel Corei7-2600CPU @ 3.40GHz

My CPU speed is 3.4 GHz

My video card is a GeForce GTX 750 with required shader 4.0, and I have 5.0, vertex shader required 4.0 and I have 5.0, dedicated video RAM 512 MB and I have 2.0 GB

The minimun ram is 4 GB and I have 8.2 GB

My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 bit

Minimum free disk space is 26 GB and I have 815.0 GB

Try out this site, for it also give recommendiation for upgrades if you need it. Also, as stated in many threads, it pays to read the specifications for the game.

Here are the requirements for playing the game.  http://www.thesystem...-3-inquisition/

Check the minimum and recommended system requirements of Dragon Age 3: Inquisition to see if your PC can play this game or not.

Release Date: 2014

Minimum System Requirements:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4GHz or AMD Athlon II X2 4400e
RAM: 2 GB
VGA: Nvidia GeForce GT 530 or AMD Radeon HD 3650
OS: Windows XP
DX: DirectX 9
Hard drive: 12 GB free space

Recommended System Requirements:
CPU: Intel Core i3-2100 3.1GHz or AMD Phenom II X4 B95
RAM: 4 GB
VGA: Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 SE or AMD Radeon HD 6790
OS: Windows 7
DX: DirectX 11
Hard drive: 12 GB free space

Seems to me, according to the specs listed, one can play it on XP. Might not be the pc you are trying to use, but maybe the game needs a day one update.

I think it's very unlikely that the game needs a quadcore - none of the AAA games released this year needed one to run, and many of them had a lot more bangs and whistles than this one.

There's a software check happening just as the menu hits, and kicking the game out to desktop.

To be honest, it's a pretty odd thing to do - it's wiped out an entire legion of otherwise highish-spec laptops, which can run anything else released. The i-5 dualcore processors are in 3/4ers of the ultrabooks released last year.

On the EA help forums there are a whole mass of people running not only quad core but who meet MORE than the minimum specs having this issue with the black screen. While the game does say it requires dual core, the fact that people who actually meet and also people who exceed the minimum requirements are having this issue as well, means there's a problem.

These people have tried updating graphic card drivers and the problem isn't just with AMD but NVIDIA folks are having it as well. I knew I didn't meet the quad core requirement but got the game anyway ahead of my pending upgrade because I wanted to pre-order. I'll be able to play eventually. But those of you with quad cores having this issue, hopefully they will patch it soon.

P.S. There's no need to attack people who have dual core systems. Honestly, there's no need to be so jerky to people.

Guess I can't edit? I mean, requires QUAD core. Pardon, no coffee yet this morning.

It actually feels good to meet other people having unplayable issues with this game. I thought I was the only one, lol.
I have not got pass the title screen in four hours trying it (except for some lucky minutes that I was able to browse through Multiplayer, but that didn't last for long).
My system is also above the recommended, AMD A10 and HD8970.

Going to try playing the game on my laptop (it has an i5 processor), it isn't anywhere near my PC when it comes to performance even though my pc has a dual core processor

So, it worked once? Did you update your graphics driver to 14.11.2 Beta?

The game released yesterday(17/11) in some countries and today(18/11) in others, you cant expect them to fix almost all the bugs in 1 day.

I say give them time( i wont play the game for 1 month due to exams).

I've been using the 14.9 all along. The game worked after my first repair on Origin, but only for about 10 minutes or so.
I will install the new driver to see if it helps.

I don't buy the "game can't run on Dual Core and only on quad core"

Correct me if I'm wrong, I have a basic understanding of computer hardware. Quad core just means that there are 4 processors functioning simultaneuosly and dual core means 2 right? If DA:I's minimum requirement is a quad core system, it shouldn't technically mean that dual core systems won't even boot the game.

What should happen if the processing load is too much for the CPU to handle is poor performance, because 2 cores can also do what 4 cores will, just maybe a bit slower depending on what the program is.

Also if the minimum requirement is a 2.0 Ghz Quad core processor, then a 4.5 Ghz Dual core CPU should be fast enough to run the same game.

No, it doesn't make any sense at all, technically, at least.

What I suspect is going on - given there are also several people having this issue on quadcores - is that there's some serious software glitch that's just a lot more common with dualcores - and is being reported a lot more because dual-cores are the defacto chips in a whole host of ultrabooks - and it's a convenient dodge to lump it all into the "you're below minimum spec, get a refund" to dapper down the spreading fear of a buggy PC release.

And BF4 - the same engine - runs just fine on dual-cores.

Not really, it runs amazingly well on Ultra settings and I have had ZERO crashes - support forums are always filled with the minority user base of people with tech problems on launch, the majority don't have problems and therefor most won't post.

The new AMD driver made the game work for me once. I tried restarting and the freezing title screen returned.

Also cut scene FPS drops a lot!

in-game mode is not affected (smooth as butter on my end)

Hoping the new Nvidia Driver will able to remedy or fix

I believe cut scenes are purposefully set at 30fps.

I get 20 FPS on Ultra and if I lower the graphics, it gets slower and slower.  Plus the characters stutter during dialogues and sometimes skip entire lines because of the lag ='/
