Any way to launch in windowed mode? Crashes when it flicks to full screen

It looks like it's running quite happily and I can see it when it's still in a window (ie haven't yet clicked on anything, and was on a different window while it loaded), but crashes as soon as I click it (and it auto-jumps to fullscreen),

Anyone any idea if there's a config file somewhere so I can keep it in windowed mode to see if that works?

I mean a config file *before* launch.... I crash before I could hit a menu, as soon as it auto-flicks out of window mode.

I believe there should be somewhere in My Docs/BioWare/Dragon Age Inquisition/Save/, a ProfileOptions_profile file.

In there, about 20 lines down, the following should set window mode:

GstRender.FullscreenEnabled 0
GstRender.FullscreenMode #

FullscreenMode 0 or 1 I think is non-fullscreen window, can't recall which (I think '1'). I think FullscreenMode 2 is fullscreen window. Hopefully this helps!

Cheers for that, but all that folder seems to have is an empty Screenshots folder. Maybe it's generated after you've made a character and done a first save?

I should add that I'm being a bit experimental and to-hell-with-the-minimum-specs! cavalier, and trying to get it running on a 2014 Macbook Air via Bootcamp  It coped mightily fine with Shadows of Mordor, so I'm sure I could get it to lurch along playably in minimum specs.

Given that it's clearly rendering fine (and running smoothly) in a window when not selected, I don't it's a hardware issue, but some software quirk.

Ah, yeah might be generated on save, though that seems strange even for a profile config file (which isn't specific to a save). You could maybe just create the file & folder there with those couple lines to force it? There aren't any other headers or parameters than those lines I pasted. Filename might be case sensitive, and it doesn't have a type extension.

No luck I'm afraid - it's still attempting to go fullscreen (and then crashing) when I click the window, and I tried all number combinations a few times

I might have to wait a few days until there's a small army of people trying, given "But does it run in Bootcamp on a Macbook Air!" is a favourite Youtube pastime.

We will get it working! We get everything working, eventually!

I'm having pretty much the opposite problem in that I can't get the display to change to fullscreen. I'm stuck with windowed mode.

EDIT: It does try to get to fullscreen but it gives up eventually.

EDIT #2: What? 'Windowed fullscreen' is actually 'fullscreen'?

Any chance of attaching your profile config file when in windowed mode, in case Barrett's memory was a little fuzzy?  :)

You mean my current profile settings? Sure, let me have a look at them and I'll modify the post.

And confirming the file name and precise location.....just in case his memory was fuzzy there too?  ;)

You're not the only one having this issue. Here's hoping a fix (or workaround, I'm not picky) rolls around sooner rather than later.

Having this problem as well unfortunately. On a Razer Laptop - Intel® Core™ i7-4702HQ Quad Core. So I should be okay - somewhat confounding. How are these games not tested on high end gaming laptops as presumably there is a significant customer base on them?

I don't think there will be.

If your issue is that your have a dual-core (like 95% with this problem), even an excellent dual-core, I don't think we'll ever be able to play.

All the responses on the EA technical support site are "Sorry, that's not supported, go here for a refund".

There's no talk of patching in the future, just "Get a refund, you don't meet minimum specs".

I don't think there're even working on it, because they don't see it as a bug, but about systems below minimum spec (who were warned)..

Well im having the same problem here and im sitting on a intel i7-2700k Quad core, at first I thought it was cause I was using the nvidia surround on triple monitor but after I tryid with only one screen I had the same problem.

It is highly glitchy and doesn't want to open in full resolution/fullscreen and wont let me press the "Click to continue" button in most cases, I have managed to play the game by continuously clicking at the desktop with my mouse as the game loads, that kind of forces the game to tab into fullscreen. Works like 1 out of 5 tries im hoping for a real fix :/

By the way if you got Nvidia GeForce Experiance u can always optimize and change the games resolution/fullscreen or window mode from there without needing to even launch the game. Sadly that doesnt fix this problem for me.

Try disabling origin in game.  Go to game properties (from Origin) and click the box.

But that would make me unable to get any new achievements right?

Hi, I've seen this fix after salvaging most of EA and Bioware forums:
1-go to the Intel HD Graphics panel -> 3D -> Conservative Morphological Anti-Aliasing, Switch it to override Application Settings (it's initially turned off).
2-Start the game in Admin mode using the Intel HD Graphics by making the game set to power saving (on CCC -AMD- panel or Nvida)
3-Let the game be full screen windowed to play it with your other GPU.
4-close the game and open your GPU panel and switch it to High Performance.
Horray, it's running well :D

My Specs:
I5-4200M dual core. (that mostly proves that the game requires quad threads not quad cores I think).
AMD 8750M DDR3. (Omega driver).
8gb DDR3 ram.
Win 8.1 Pro 64-bit.

I'm getting 60 fps on low settings using directX cause Mantle is crashing the game (idk how although the 740m is getting like 35-ish).
