With the PC preload live and people already playing the game at the time of this writing, I figured there would be many questions and comments concerning the game's performance on the different setups and builds. For this reason, I decided to start a thread that keeps of all this discussion in one place for the sake of simplicity.

Do note that this thread is not meant for asking whether your current build can run the game; it's for those already playing to discuss and talk about how it performs on their respective systems. Also, ABSOLUTELY NO SPOILERS are allowed here. If you must post a spoiler, please use a spoiler tag.

I hope this place serves everyone well. Have at it!

UPDATE: A German website has a compiled a nice set of graphs showing how the game fares with each individual GPU and CPU (along with RAM amount). To help give a general idea of how your components should perform, I have included these here as follows:

1. GPU

2. CPU

3. RAM

* Legend:-

Gray: Technically impossible
Red: Possible but with great performance hit
Yellow: Best for Medium settings (assuming 1080p resolution)
Light green: Best for High settings (1080p)
Dark green: Best for Ultra settings (1080p)

Thanks for this, I'm curious to see how it runs on PCs

It's beyond awful for me. Small freezes all the time, long loading screens and I still haven't left chargen. It crashed when I was almost finished with it.

I'm very disappointed.

No, I'm not trying it on high.

Very bad, had 2 CTD in the first hours.

It's a bit iffy in a few places. Likes to switch to bordered at first.

Once you get going it settles down, and I don't have the best system either. Everything but textures are medium (textures start at ultra for some weird reason)

micro stuttering all over the place. Even when CPU and GPU usage are low. >.<"

Also, frame rate drops for no apparent reason. It does not drop when I am in combat, it would suddenly decide to drop when I am staring at a wall...

p/s: No crashes thus far.

AMD Phenom six core @ 2.9 GHz and ATi Radeon R7 260x here.

Putting most options at High, textures at Ultra, with no AA and with SSAO, the game runs between 35 (rare) and 55 FPS, acceptable for me, with some stuttering, no crashes in an hour.

Drivers will probably improve it, but so far it looks decently optimized. Blows Unity out of the water on that front.

Drivers AMD have not released new drivers. An amd game with no drivers out yet.

This isn't very helpful unless ppl include which cpu & gpu they have.

Ubisoft should never be used as a benchmark for pc optimization. They literally do not give a **** about their pc ports.

Can't comment on AMD, but Nvidia usually releases driver optimizations within the first week of launch.

Since DA:I is also coming with Far Cry 4, I expect new drivers within a few days from now. The current version is 344.65.

Yea im pretty sure for Call of duty they had the drivers out the day before launch.

I think we will get them in 24 hours since farcry and alot **** is coming out.

I'll be monitoring this thread very closely until the 21st. Poor performance has always been an issue on my rig. Probably because I usually just about skim the min rec and my cooling system is the equivalent of an asthmatic blowing through a straw (hoping to upgrade in the future).

If you guys are having problems then I'm gonna really struggle.

If you have performance issues best thing to do is turn of MSAA and a few settings.

I second this.

MSAA is very costly. If you think you have a low framerate, I would start by toning down MSAA a bit (or disabling it altogether).

I play on the high preset with effects down to medium and no AA. My system is a Radeon R9 270X and a Phenom II x4 965BE 3.4 Ghz.

With Mantle, framerates are smooth most of the time with some stuttering. Cutscenes are capped at 30fps, which is jarring when you come from 60fps gameplay.

I don't know the exact framerate settings because I haven't found out how to display the fps in Mantle. The benchmark is less than helpful. It's a super fast forward video that ends after five seconds and then you hear all sound effects all at once.

I guess I'll be fine with my 4770K @ 4.5Ghz and 780 ti then

Can you post your PC specs? Still waiting for my copy to arrive and want to now what exactly to expect as my PC is rather old (but BF4 worked acceptable on high).

I am crossing my fingers with my (very) old GTX 295. When SLI works the card can almost keep up even with most recent ones (apart DX11), but if SLI doesn't work then it's trouble time. Well, I suppose in about an hour I will check for myself.
