Newest drivers stabilized gpu usage for me however still was getting massive fps drops in cutscenes saves and some textures would flicker. After fiddling around with the settings, setting textures to ultra from fade in fixed the texture problem for me. Cutscenes would still drop massively. Putting post processing from ultra to high brought my fps from like 7 in saving and loading to 50 lol. Cutscenes 50-60 fps with the mod and post processing at high instead of ultra, seems  like a possible bugged setting, difference over 30 fps for me lol. Leave everything maxed, turn this high and cutscene drops should be fixed. This is at 4k.

Its simple as that, the Game and the Driver in its current state doesnt offer good playable framerate in the main Game. First you should play until you reach the Hinterlands and then say you get solid 60 Fps but you will not at most instead you will get a stuttering Party.

Im on:

I7 4930K @ 4,2GHz

MSI GTX 980 4G @ 1354MHz

with 344.75

Max Settings no MSAA @ 1080p

FPS: 30-45-60 bouncing like crazy and no solid 60 or even 30 Fps

I haven't measured FPS but it runs pretty smooth with the latest Nvidia drivers and MSAA off, everything else on max. That means textures on "Fade Touched".

So I've just picked up the copy of the game yesterday and installed it with the following specs on my system:

- Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400  [2.66GHz, 4MB L2, 1333MHz FSB]

- 6GB DDR3 1066MHz SDRAM

- NVIDIA Geforce GT 430 graphics card

- Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit)

Was able to install w/ updated driver and it "works" using the GT 430, but frame rate and rendering can barely keep up if graphics setting is on high.  If changed the graphics setting to everything on low or off, it's a bit smoother but going to have to deal with the shiny hair and lag is not as horrible...may just end up upgrading to a newer graphics card but can't decide what's a decent and affordable on.

Severe stuttering I get with this game unfortunately (running max settings on G-Sync @ 1440p). Also, with SLI, I get tons of shadow flickering. Only way to fix flickering is by running on a single gpu (disabling SLI in the Nvidia control panel) which isn't an ideal solution obviously.

i7 4770k @ 4.2 ghz

16gb ram

Titan Z (latest driver)

Hope it gets fixed asap.

Specs in sig.

The only way I've found that I can run it at 40-60 FPS @ 1080p is put everything to low (except meshes high for the hair) and resolution scale to 80.  It doesn't look terrible and I knew I wasn't going to be able to play at high or even medium but I was hoping at least a few medium settings but it isn't to be.  Even at these settings it dips into the 30s in very crowded areas like the crossroads in the hinterlands.

Can't comment on AMD, but Nvidia usually releases driver optimizations within the first week of launch.

Since DA:I is also coming with Far Cry 4, I expect new drivers within a few days from now. The current version is 344.65.

I'm getting sh*tloads of camera stutter/frame skipping when i'm using mouse, panning with WASD doesn't have any which is weird. Lowering Mouse polling rate to 125 (was 1000) helped alot, also tried renderdevice.renderaheadlimit, 0 gave best fps and least stutter but there still is some. And rawmouse input seems to only works in menus.

Anyone having similar issues?

In case laptop usability is of interest to anyone:

I played a bit last night (levelled up once) on a Dell XPS 17 (8GB, i7, nVidia GT 550 M graphics chip) that's a few years old (90% sure those are the laptop specs - if you were planning on buying a used laptop with those chips let me know and I'll double-check, otherwise don't rely on this!), and except for shiny hair (which I've read elsewhere on here I have to adjust "mesh" for, thanks to those who gave that info) I was satisfied with performance and appearance even on relatively low graphics settings, but high resolution (1920x1080).

Tried it with new drivers but haven't gotten enough cut scenes since then to notice a difference.

Think your chart OP is very well done, as I run it great on high at 1440 with an i5 3550k, nvidia 670 really smoothly.

One of the few games that revs up my fans though lol.  Was kinda hopping for an excuse to upgrade the GPU....probably will have to wait till the Witcher 3 :)

Apologies if this has been asked and answered earlier in the thread, but if I'm Dark Green (GPU GTX980, RAM 8GB) on two metrics, and Light Green on CPU (FX4100 - Quad Core 3.5GHz), is it best just to stick with High on everything? Or will I be able to sneak in a couple of settings on Ultra?

I would try Ultra cause why not right!   cpu tends to be overrated in most games anyways.  That is an interesting choice given your GPU though mate :)

Thanks - yeah, I bought an R9 290X a fraction over a month ago, updated the the drivers then...stuff started happening.  Ran like an absolute dream for between 15 minutes to an hour, then would hang, make a buzzing noise and my system would reset.

Let my fingers do the Googling and turns out a number of people had had the same issue.  Tried all sorts of things, complete reinstalls, reseating the card etc etc.  In the end, gave up, returned the 290 and paid a bit extra for the 980.  Been solid as a rock for over a week.

I've stated that I got a solid  60 fps on ultra a few times, but I was seriously mistaken. When I said that I had never finished the prologue. My frame rate is like a roller coaster. Sometimes with lots going on I get a good 60 fps, then in Haven with the saluting people I can't get above 40 fps. There are also wild swings for no apparent reason. I have a GTX 970 and the newest drivers seem to have made the performance worse!

My Comp:

Intel Core i7 930@2.8ghz

12 gigs ram

64 bit Windows 7

Amd Radeon 5800

My issues:

-Game crashed with the dxg_device_hung error message upon first meeting additional party members.  Reloaded and crash repeated.

I searched for a solution and found a recommendation to install c++ redistrubutable which I did as well as add a line to unlock the fps throttle from 30 fps to 60 in dialogues.  The game seemed to run fine until I had an opportunity to dialogue with cassandra in the training yard.  The game crashed again with the original error message.  Repeated attempts brought the same result.  I then altered my graphics settings and results varied including game freezes, blue screen crashes from my computer with the message that my video device driver was stuck in an infinite loop and the original dxg error.

Currently the game is unplayable.  Any suggestions?

Hey guys I'm getting steady 20 FPS and have no idea as to why. Graphics setting are automatically MED-HIGH but I get the low FPS even at Low settings. Help!

CPU: Intel® Core™ i5 CPU 750 @ 2.67GHz

GeForce GTX 750 Ti - latest Update

8 GB RAM

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium

I have an i3-4130 @3.4GHz, 8GB's of RAM, and a GTX 750 (non ti so 1GB of VRAM) and running at 768p with Med-Ultra settings (meshes/enviro/effects/post on ultra rest on high and tessellation on medium and HBAO no AA) I've gotten an average of 40-60FPS with few dips to 30 in the Hinterlands. If all else fails update drivers or drop res. With BF4 there was a bug that caused the Nvidia HD Audio driver that caused massive stuttering for me so maybe try uninstalling that if you have it. I didn't install it with the latest update.

I have updated the drivers fully and dropped all settings to Low. Still 15-20 FPS in Hinterlands. Just about 20-25 in other parts. Still very low for my specs.

Updating drivers gave me much smoother gameplay and a higher framerate. I'm about a locked 60fps now on mostly high settings, and that's with a 4 year old PC! Very happy with the performance here. Great optimization that puts other developers to shame.
